My Citroen C5 Estate will run all day at 1900 revs. When you press the throttle to overtake a vehicle the engine dies out for a split second or two and then picks up again. This morning it did the same, only this time it didn`t pick up, the engine management light came on and it felt as if the turbo was not working. Does anybody have any ideas, as this can be quite frightening when overtaking? (Exclusive)

Out of the blue my Citroen C5 Estate would not start. It`s fuel primer bulb felt empty and it did not seem to be pulling fuel. I removed the return line to the tank, fitted a clear hose and sucked and fuel appeared. I tried the primer bulb which was okay and it started. After a short drive and parking for 4 hours it would not start again. I tried the primer bulb again and eventually got fuel up the clear hose but watched as it slowly went down. I think that the bulb has a non return valve that it is passing and the air is being drawn in via the small breather line which is adjacent to the flow and reurn lines. I would welcome any further suggestions. Can anyone help please? (1.6 hdi VTX+)

My 2001 C5 diesel, 2.2 HDi, has taken to putting up the ’unblock diesel filter’ message over the last few months. This happens at random intervals, sometimes a couple of times a day but often with several weeks with no such message. There are some odd things about this. When the message appears the service warning light doesn’t come on as it does for other problems, the outside temperature display drops by six degrees and the ’automatic windscreen wiper active’ message often appears as well. Sometimes I get the outside temperature drop without the other messages appearing. The unblock diesel filter message disappears after a minute or so and the outside temperature display climbs up to the true value over about 10 minutes. Any ideas about what is going on?

You need to have your diesel particle filter serviced it has nothing to do with the fuel filter. It’s the filter on the exhaust line that collects soot particles the service will include an additive a new filter and the counter reset on the computer - Colin Bissett from England

Quite often my Citroen C5 Estate fails to start because the low pressure fuel pump under the rear seat fails to start due to lack of supply voltage. If I open the bonnet and hit the fuse/control box under the cover on the right of the engine compartment, magically the car then starts. Does anyone know what is the likely fault, and if I have to replace the unit how much might it cost? (110 bhp diesel)
