Hi. My C5 is fitted with a Navidrive 3D Hifi system, which has a subwoofer fitted in the back. However, the only sound I can get is at a fixed volume; not able to alter sound settings, nor any control the output to any of the speakers. Probably connected. The audible warning can't be heard from parking sensors, and telephone, both Bluetooth and in-car, can't be heard. Anyone any thoughts? I've attached diagnostic software via Lexia, which showed that the speaker control was faulty and that there was no communication with the Hifi Amp. Cheers in advance for any imput.

hi I'm having problems with the heating and cooling, when I adjust the temperature by pressing the controls to warm or cold it doesn't respond I don't know how to cure this hope you can help thanks

Answers

I've answered this on the Picasso section, but repeated in part here as it's the same issue: It is highly likely to be one of the air distribution or air mix stepper motor gears. These are small units anywhere between 2-4 in the car that control both the distribution of the air between the floor, windscreen, face level vents etc., and the other 2 usually control the air mixing for the climate control - mixing the cold and hot air to get the right temperature. So, to start eliminating these, switch the blower on, then set demister on and wait - you should hear the motors moving the gears to send the air to the windscreen and side vents. Next select face level vents and see if you can hear them move and the air changing distribution, then again to the floor level. If this is working, you know these are fine. Now if you leave the air blowing at face level, set the temperature to the highest and turn the blower up fast. Feel to see if the temperature is increasing (best wait to a cooler day if the weather is too hot to gauge accurately). Then turn it all the way to the coldest level and see if you can feel the temp changing - but be sure to check both passenger and driver sides of the vents, because these can fail in individually. If the temperature is not dropping, then one or more of the small plastic gears of the stepper motors may have sheared off, leaving the air mixture set to the setting when it broke! These are simply plastic gears and they do tend to break. The units can be replaced separately - but you will need to identify which one has gone. They are a bit of a bu**er to get to on the C5. You may be able to get to one by taking the side trim off the passenger / driver gearbox sides and getting in and up about there - but you'll need diagrams to help. I suggest you have a look over at the French Car Forum where I'm based. I might be able to help further there. Marc from Carmarthenshire

I cant turn the heater or A/C off. Just purchased the C5 2lt tourer nice car but this is driving me mad. How do I turn the lot off??? It's summer so don't need heat may be a bit of A/C but not a lot (this is England) just want to stop the lot. Any answers please..

Answers

Ok, on the C5 X7, there are 2 sets of controls - mono zone and dual zone sytems. Assuming you have the bizone, when the AUTO button is pressed it will keep the temperature according to the setting you have set (note the numbers of the temperature control are levels and not degrees!) It will use the A/C as necessary to keep the temp you have set. If you just want to turn off the A/C, then press the A/C button so it is not illuminated. If you do not want the climate control on, then pressing any of the air direction or fan speeds, will turn off the Automatic setting. You can keep pressing the small fan button to lower the fan speed and change the air distribution as needed. To set everything back to Auto, just press the Auto button once and select the desired temperature. Marc from Carmarthenshire

How do I remove rear seat cushions?

Answers

Tilt the base of the seat forward by lifting it from the back. This should give access to remove the fixing bolts. Hugh from City of Glasgow

Actually, you lift the rear cushion seat up from the front edge, then this swings towards the front, dipping at the rear, then it lifts up from the back. Easy to discconnect once you have done this. Marc from Carmarthenshire

Hi. My 2010 C5 tourer is fitted with the NaviDrive 3D sat nav set up. The navigation does not work. It indicates that I am in the English Channel. Also I can't reset the time and date. Every time I turn the ignition off it goes back to flashing 00:00. My local dealer thinks that installing new CDs etc should cure. What do you think PLEASE. It's driving me nuts.

Answers

A couple of things - a BSI reset will often help: Open Bonnet Leave driver's window down Completely remove key from ignition Close all Doors Wait 5 minutes and do not open the tailgate or any doors or operate any switches Disconnect battery negative ensuring it does not reconnect accidentally. Leave disconnected for 5 minutes minimum. turn on sidelights only reconnect battery negative leave car for another 5 minutes This is to allow all the ECUs (and there are about 20 in the C5) to properly reset and power up. Then put your key in the ignition through the window - don't start the car - just switch ignition on Hold lock button on the key fob down for 5-10 seconds Remove key Operate the Central Locking to Lock the car using the Fob and then unlock. Finally start the car. You may need to reset the date - but the GPS will synch the minutes for you. The above will reset all the ECUs. I would suggest that you get the battery checked, as the C5 needs a well-powered battery in top condition. Short runs don't do it any good. If you go over to the French Car Forum you can ask me there about firmware updates for your system. Marc from Carmarthenshire

The front side lights are not working. I have disconnected the plug to remove the front skirt and installed a 12volt supply from the battery on to the front skirt circuit which includes the 2no side lights. Both work. so there is no supply coming from the car. The steering wheel light control switch., Has only 2 plugs with very thin cables which obviously feed a relay. Any clues as to location and also control fuse number and location. Thanks in anticipation Alan Jones.

I have been in hospital for just over 3 weeks my car has been stood on the road for that time, i went to take it for a drive and found the steering very hard like powet steering had gone, checked tyrrs amd seem to be ok and plenty of fluid in reservoir?

Answers

Depending on which model C5 you have it may be electrical assist or engine driven hydraulic pump assist. If hydraulic make sure the fluid level is really topped up because it is shared with the hydraulic suspension.Hydraulic system is self-bleeding providing it hasn't been dismantled. If electric them low battery voltage combined with low alternator output can cause heavy steering. Hugh from City of Glasgow

Hi. I have a 2006 C5 2.0 HDI Auto Est. I am currently dealing with the problem of parked battery drain. I have had the same problem as you with loss of power steering. This occurred after not using the car for several days and it was also cold. So this meant battery voltage was low and starting current was higher. Result, car started but had no power steering. Ran car for about 10 mins, switched off for a couple of mins started again and power steering was restored. BUT, in your case where the battery voltage was much lower after being left for much longer, you would have to run the car for about 15 mins at about 1500 rpm to recharge the battery before attempting a restart. Other problems associated with starting with low battery voltage is that you can get a diectional headlight fault which will appear when switching on your headlights. For some reason it takes a while before this clears itself. In the past, I've disabled "directional headlights" and after a few days re-enabled them and the fault had cleared. I'm an experienced Electronic Engineer so feel confident in my appreciation of symptoms and fault analysis. However, as in-depth technical information of the Citroen C5 electronics is not easily available, fault finding is hard. I'm right at this moment trying to track why the car's battery drain when parked is about 150mAmps (0.15A). Terry Toye. Terry Toye from Dorset

Warning sign come up with reference to fuel cap cover not closed , have to push reset button on steering wheel to stop the alarm from continuous sounding / service light remains on / what is the fault as the fuel cover is in place

Answers

The fuel cap is the same as the Peugeot 407 and supposed to have two magnets on it where it goes down into the filler neck. One of these may be missing in which case turn the cap round half a turn and refit. If you are still getting your service light you may have no Eolys fluid in the small tank for the DPF system Hugh from City of Glasgow

On return from 10 days hol., battery utterly dead. Opened n/s front door with key and put charger on. immediately alarm started sounding, and kept starting and stopping, even after disconnecting battery. Eventually alarm stopped, and battery now on charge, with both leads disconnected. When fully charged, when I reconnect, is alarm going to re-start, and is it true there is a complicated procedure to follow?

Answers

To answer my own question - you just reconnect the (fully charged) battery - probably negative lead first. The alarm will sound, but you just insert the ignition key, and it will stop. You than switch on, but wait for about a minute for the system to re-set, before starting the engine. You then re-set date and time etc., as required. This answer came from the owners handbook ! And it works! Mike from West Sussex

The suspension alarm light together with all height level lights intermittently come on whilst driving They stay on with engine switched off but haven't checked for how long. Also unable to adjust height levels whilst in fault alarm I've topped up lds fluid as Haynes Manual. However they show 2- different options. 1) Levels A,B&C on the tank body 2) Levels 1&2 as indicated by bars on Filler spout this is the one i've used don't have information to hand , but I think the RPO No is 09653. Could it be an intermittent pump fault due to age? Any advice would be appreciated Many thanks V.Melville

Have since had it collected on flatbed to mechanic. However when on the tow truck fluid spilled out all over the truck! Can't tell where its coming from. Looks like maybe from the small black pipe going from front/back of car. Any help or suggestions appreciated.

The car has just passed its MOT so no problems with suspension or ball joints etc. etc. Took mechanic out for a road test to listen to the noise and he confirmed that it seemed to be coming from front offside wheel area. Put car back on ramp for a thorough inspection, nothing found. Has anyone ANY idea what it might be? Would really appreciate some help.
