What is the cause of my anti pollution light coming on? Is this easily fixed and usually covered under warranty?

This may be caused by many short trips. Suggest you give the car a fast run in high gear this may clear up the problem, failing this you may have to have the Electrovalve replaced. I was faced with the same problem at a cost of £147. Good luck - Arthur Allen from Somerset

How do I change the air filter on 2007 C4 1.6 petrol hatchback? Usually it’s just a matter of undoing a couple clips, whip out the old one, slap the new one in, do up the clips. Done.

Answers

Managed to change it by using stubby screw driver for screw behind brake fluid reservoir (after unscrewing it and moving it clear). Flexible/bendy screw driver for the screw next to engine. Probably easier if you unclip stiff black plastic hose first. Next, loosen main hose jubilee clip. After unscrewing all visible screws (not sure if there’s one at the back), I still couldn’t lift off cover so I then prised it open just enough to get the old filter out and feed the new one into place. Refit. Took me 45 minutes, a job that usually takes seconds in all my previous cars. Bad design - Cartylo from England

Can anyone tell me how I can turn the passenger airbag off for a child seat in a Citroen C4?

Answers

You will void your warranty and place your child at risk. The seat goes in the back seat where it can fitted to the specially designed child seat bolts in the hatch/boot, not to mention placing the child seat in the front passenger being illegal in most countries in the world and again, it is dangerous - James Davis from Australia

You can turn off the front passenger airbag for rear facing child seats. There’s a key switch located top right in the glove box opening. Using your ignition key (with ignition off) turn left for off to deactivate. But don’t forget to turn back on when not using child seat - Cartylo from England

Hi. I recently had a problem with all four indicators coming on while driving. Sometimes I can cancel this by using the left / right indicators or by pressing the hazard. There does not appear to be any obvious reason, sometimes this will happen when the road is bumpy. Pleased with car in all, purchased 12 months ago, has anyone had any similar problems? Would appreciate any advice.

Hi , has anyone had problems with speed limiter on the Citroen C4. I have just bought the car and I can’t get it working. Is this a common fault?

Answers

I had this issue on my 2007 C4 in Australia. The first time Citroen had to replace the module. I was charged for this as it was no longer under warranty and it cost $800 Australian. We get overcharged for most things here so it should be no more 300 Pounds (in theory). The second time this error occurred was less than six months after the replacement module. It was another two weeks before I could get back to Sydney to get it fixed and by this time, Citroen found no fault and it has not happened for one year now - James Davis from Australia

George Stavrou, Cyprus

Citroen C4 2006

My Citroen C4 does not start when I turn the ignition. It sounds like a dead battery. I jumped started it and drove it home. Then it started once and that was it. The windows don’t go up with the one touch feature, it takes about 8 attempts to close as each time the window goes up 3 cm. On the screen it says (auto headlights on for a long time) which is true as I have left them on auto since I bought it. I’m overdue an oil change and the last time I did I never reset the screen and it kept showing that its needs a service. I never had any problems in the past whatsoever, a great car just like my previous 6 Citroen models. Thank you for your time in advance.

Can anyone tell me how to replace the reversing light bulb. I have read the owner’s manual time and time again but cannot figure out how to remove the lens. It seems impossible to reach into the gap after removing the boot liner. (vtr+)

Answers

In the boot, there’s a flap behind the light. Take out the foam (you will need a screwdriver and torch) and there’s a clip that holds the light onto the body. Unclip that and the light will pop out. It will clip back into place if you slide it back in. Hope this helps :) - Adrian Smith from England

Citroen C4 2007

I have purchased a Citroen C4 2007 1.4i SX, it seems pretty okay at the moment. The interior is a little flimsy but drives well and is economical. I have learned a valuable lesson though, always check what functions the car has before purchasing. The model I have doesn’t have half the functions available which the ’standard’ manual says, and it doesn’t even have an alarm fitted, which is another major disappointment. So any recommendations for an alarm would be appreciated.

Shaun Gibson, Mid-Lothian (Edinburghshire)

Citroen C4 2005

Only on cold morning I have difficulty starting the car. In the summer time, NEVER a problem. When it first happened, Citroen plugging it in and it came back as an error with "Crank shaft poitioning sensor" was broken. They replaced it, and the problem carried on. Why is it I am only getting this problem when the weather is 1c/0c/-1 and below? Could it be the automatic chock? Any help would be brilliant. I am not paying Arnold Clark one more penny. The service light went on and stayed on after its first service and MOT (free it was) and the car was about 3 years old then. I have been sold a car that has problems in cold weather. I live in Edinburgh, near they junction for the fourth road bridge in the west of the city, Scotland. Any help would be much appreciated. I am disabled (reason for automatic car) and have 2 baby girls. Kindest regards, Shaun.

When the car reaches around 6mph, the rear doors lock. Is there a way of turning this off, as one of the rear doors seems to occasionally stay locked (from the inside) even when the car has stopped?

Answers

Simply sit in the car, turn on the car press and hold the padlock button and this will bring a message on the screen to say deactivated. Simple as that!! Gema from England

Not so simple Gema. I am unable to open near side rear door from inside car. Starting engine and pressing child lock button on driver door brings up icon on screen. Pressing again deactivates child lock and icon dissapears. Pressing padlock auto lock to deactivate auto lock makes no difference. Configuration is to pot somewhere - Barry White from England

Hi, I’m considering buying a Citroen C4 1.6 VTR. It has 88,000 miles on it which is slighty putting me off, as its year. 2005. How many miles can they do? Some help needed please...

Answers

Yes, I know what you mean. I have a Citroen, my model is a VTR+ 2005 and to be honest I wished I had bought another make and model because it is alive with technology that seems to go wrong. My advice is to buy a Skoda Octavia - Peter Coaten from England

I may be too late on this reply, I love my C4 and if I had my time over, I would buy it again but I would not buy one with 88,000 miles, I would say that is nearing the end of its life even though with all servicing and some love and care, it should be good for much much more, the 88,000 most modern cars simply are not - James Davis from Australia
