This is my 2nd Deisel Plurial and I must say if you get a good one they are great cars. Some white van man wrote off my first & I managed to buy the exact same model of car?! I've just had a full service at my local garage and now when I start the engine a phrase keeps popping up on the screen saying 'PLIP BATTERY - SPENT'. And the service spanner stays on for a couple of seconds. Anyone any idea what this could mean??

Since end of Jan I've had continuous problems with the engine management light coming on. It's mainly code P0420 but there have been a couple of other faults as well. I've spent so much money trying to fix this fault and it just won't go away! I've had new O2 sensors (front and back), a new cat convertor, and it's still not sorted. Think my garage think I'm some sort of weird car hypochondriac now!! Has anyone else had this issue, and what was the solution?

Bought Elkie couple of weeks ago, yes she has a name. Love her. Specially in this lovely weather. Bit scary buying a second hand car. One previous lady owner, low mileage, regularly services and so far its not let me down. What has happened though is if I have to do a sharp turn the ESP WARNING LAMP lights up. It does go off when restarting the engine but this has happened three times now. Any ideas? Many thanks

Does anyone know how to fix the front passenger seat folding mechanism. The seat will only stay in place when pushed right back. Passenger not impressed at having to virtually lie down in the seat, when travalling to the shops!

Answers

You have to push it back into the position it was originally. If you want to alter the position of the whole seat forward or back you have to use the adjuster under the seat. If you want to alter the tilt of the back you have to push the upright handle on the side back, but beware & keep your hand on it cos it snaps forward. Suz from Kent

I have bought a pluriel and the aerial I'd broken and the metal screw us ceased in the baseplate. Can you advise how the change the complete aerial fitment please Steff

Answers

Get a good screwdriver set to hand! It requires 2 (possibly 3, it was a while ago) different heads. First remove the sun visors, then the screws that hold these on, then poke a small flat head into the tiny hole you'd think couldn't possibly hold a screw, it does. Then remove the bits in the middle & carefully unpop the whole plastic bit across the front of the inside of the windscreen. Let this dangle. At the base of the aerial there is a small metal plate (about the size of a 10p piece), push on the little black bit that sticks out & the plate will pop off. You can now see the bottom of the aerial. After removing the old one but before fitting the new one open the roof, stand up in the car & clean around the fitting well. Make sure it's completely dry & pop a bit of Vaseline around the hole, then fit the new one. Then refit as it came off, sounds horrendous but wasn't too bad. If you're nearby I'll help, I'm in Kent. my roof and boot Dont open my radio goes off

Answers

a series of switches that allow the activation of the boot and roof retraction.. could be any one of them gone that stops the process.. sadly.. it needs auto elec to find which one. Can't see it being related to the radio going off.. but there are many people who have this issue.. may be a sign that the radio unit is on the blink or it possibly could be general electrical issue.. French cars renowned for it, sadly... but get auto-lec to do some checks... can remove the head unit and manually power it it away from the car.. if it still goes off intermittently.. you know it's the unit and not the car's electrics. I bought my C3 Pluria on Wednesday, it's a 2003 model but has full service history & in good condition, took it for a test drive and all went well, however drove it today on the motorway and when the speed increased to more than 40 the noise in the car was deafening !!! The noise is similar to what you would hear if you were driving at speed with the window down ( sounds like strong wind whistling... ). I have a 3 month warranty on the car but would appreciate some suggestions as to what may be causing this ( I'm assuming this isn't normal ? ) Thank You

I only use car for short school run trips. This morning engine sign came on - 3 bleeps could b heard every now and then. At one point - car sounded really rough (sort of dodgy exhaust blowing sound) and then car slowed down. I pulled in, switched car off and waited. After 5 minutes I continued with journey and it seemed fine. Any advice is much appreciated. I daren't go too far in it now.

Answers

Helen, I'll wager that your first sentence is the main issue... you only use the car for short .. trips... Whether a diesel or petrol your vehicle will need to go for longer trips of at least 30mins continuous. Firstly.. short trips like you suggest may not be long enough to warm the engine up to temperature.. and whether P or D your car will effectively be running on a rich fuel air mixture which will eventually cause issues with a number of various components. If the journey is that short.. do you really need to take the car? Eventually you will also kill your battery because it has not gone far enough to recharge from the starting process which takes a massive amount of energy from a battery.. especially diesels! R Evans from Caerphilly

Thank you for the advice Mr Evans - I am going to take it for a long trip out today and will continue to do this on a weekly basis - wish me luck!! Was considering selling the pluriel and looking into an electric model maybe ?? Helen from Cheshire

Electric models are ok but need to be charged... if you went for hybrid youngest same problem as now... doing little mileage R Evans from Caerphilly

Dear all, wonder if someone knows what could be wrong with my car. Last week when I plugged in an iphone charger to the cigarette lighter socket it didn`t start charging and when I removed it I realized the top metal bit of the charger got loose and fell into the socket. I picked these two bits out and tried to use a different plug to check if it`s working at all but that didn`t charge either. Tried the cigarette lighter itself with same result. Looking at the manual it says the fuse for this socket is on the same circuit as the interior light and digital clock. As the light and clock work perfectly I doubt the fuse went out and just wondering if this socket could have gone faulty just because of these pieces. Do I need to take it to a garage to have it checked out or is it something I could fix? I will need to use my satnav in 3 days and doubt I could get it checked out by professionals by then... Many thanks and kind regards, Gabi

Answers

The sockets do sometimes go faulty.. be aware that often, Citroen will use a socket that is NOT the same diameter as the ones you can get online or, say, at Halfords.. check it first. PS. If you do need a new one.. dealer only... get the part number from Citroen and write it down... then get the price and give them the "How much??? Phooaaar.. that's a lot.. I'll have to have a think.."... go to Peugeot dealer.. give them your Citroen part number and they'll get the part.. cheaper !. Before buying tho.. get someone to take it out.. it may be a wiring fault on the back of the socket ! Do you have another socket next to it for power supply.. same size as the cigarette lighter !! Anyway, I think your cigarette lighter part number is either 8227-54 or 8227-96.. the power accessory plug is 8227-66. R Evans from Caerphilly

Thank you! Will look into that! Gabriella M from Buckinghamshire

When the roof was tucked into the boot of the car and the rails were removed from the vehicle I then was showing someone how to put the roof up. Instead of putting the railing on first and then getting the roof/back windscreen out and having it click into place, I accidentally pulled up the roof/back windscreen up out of the boot without having the railings attached. Now the back roof is stuck!! I can't get it to fold back down! And I can't put the railings on because the folded roof is in the way in its 'stuck' position!!! Please help!??? Is there some way that it can fold back into the boot so I can put the roof on properly!??? It just won't go back into the boot and I've tried all button/levers etc. even pulled the back seats down and nothing is working! I'm trying to sell the car but if I can't fix this I'm screwed! Please is there a way to get the folded roof to swing out and back into the boot so I can start again???

Last night I put the drivers seat forward and now it won't stay upright. I have tried using the levers can anyone give me some advice please Thanks Marie

Answers

Hi, had the same problem. The lever on the outside of the seat is used to tilt the seat back forward, release the seat and allow it to slide forward easily to allow people into the rear seats. The problem is, if you then try to return the seat to a sensible position, you HAVE TO SLIDE IT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS BEFORE. Crazy I know. Cant do it cos their legs are in the way. The only solution is to ask the rear seat passenger to dismount. Get in the seat. Slide it back to where it was, with the seat up. (It will lock) slide it forward and put the back forward using the lever, let your passenger in, then slide the seat back to its new position and the seat back should lock in place. There is nearly no room for the rear passengers legs. hammond from Dorset

Hello, How can I remove the rear drivers panel to access the electric window, it appears to have come off somewhere, as will not close or open any further, at present letting all rain in. It is half open on angle. ? thank you

Answers

long one this. But google it, there is a youtube thing you can watch. It is a bit involved. hoist up front of rear seat cushion then pull it forward and out. undo two bolts on bottom of seat back, action the tip forward lever in the boot, remove the seat back. Unbolt the seat belt lower mount from the car body, remove bolts and washers remembering the correct order. Lift the sliding belt thing you have just unbolted, from the front and wiggle it about until you can remove it from the body panel. Slide the belt off it. pop the speaker cover off and undo the 4 screws, take the speaker out, disconnecting the wires. undo the bolt behind it that secures part of the trim panel to the body. With rubber gloves on, grip the silver bar and slide it back quite hard, then the sliding locking lugs will disengage and you can undo the bolt at the front that hold it in place. (By now you will have discovered you need star bolt socket/screwdriver tips. Pull away the rubber sealing strip from the front of the trim panel and the back part of the door opening. You now have to remove the trim panel. It is held in place by 5 or 6 of those plastic clips. feel for them and pull them away as gently as you can from the bodywork.(spares are cheap and easy to fit but don't forget to remove the broken bits from the panel and bodywork. (Pliers) Obviously the belt is still attached to the trim panel, no probs, with careful feeding you can slide the belt through the slot at the top. and remove the trim panel. cut away the plastic weather shield from the panel and behind it is the window raising and lowering mechanism. Usually one of the white plastic connectors on the end of a wire has broken. If you are unlucky the wire will have got all twisted up. You can get a kit off the internet to repair the mechanism. It is a bit of a sod to put it all together, especially if you try to use the new springs, but it can be done, I have done both sides. The frame is held to the window and the car with 6 bolts or nuts, 3 nuts connected to washers to hold the glass to the sliders etc, two bolts on the top surface of the side of the bodywork to hold the top of the frame and one at the bottom, set sideways. BEFORE TAKING ANY BOLTS OR NUTS OFF, PACK THE BOTTOM of the space in the panel with cloths or something to catch the ones you may drop. Slide the glass up to the top, to undo the three nuts holding it. When replacing the frame in the car, there is a hidden angled piece of metal inside the body just below where you will try and put the bolts through. It is there to help the fitter, as he/she can hand the frame on it before aligning the boltholes. But you need to know it is there. The frame will not just simply slide up to the top, you have to push it forward a bit and then slide it back over this piece of metal. You need gaffer tape and/or a mate to refit the window and then adjust it for position. Rest of the job is just reversing what you have already done. Best of luck hammond from Dorset

Where you driving on wet/slippery surface? If so, it could have jumped into winter mode, to give you more grip. It senses for this automatically. There may even be a warning light to tell you it has done this, but then again not. It does it when it senses one wheel turning much faster than the other, on the front. Answer this question

sharon, Kent

Citroen C3 Pluriel

Hi, firstly it started with the driver`s door not opening. I had it checked, was told it needed a new BSI computer fitted £600 for cost and £300 to fit. So another mechanic suggested it just needed new door mechanisms and this was done, but guess what it was the BSI computer, so I had that fitted by a car door mechanic and his friend who re-booted the computer, cost me £900 for it all. Now the boot does not open and the power steering does not work (this had been an intermittent fault since I got it but usually cured itself by turning the ignition off and on again). So now what to do? I need someone who can look at the computer and re-boot again, but will not cost me another shed load of money. Here is the sorry tale as I loved my car, my late husband bought it for me and I am now on my own struggling to fund and or fix it! Oh and it beeps at various times for no reason! Help please, anyone local to me here in Kent? Thanks

Answers

Sharon, there are instructions on the internet regarding resetting the BSI computer, take careful note & follow the instructions. It'd save you a load if money to do it yourself. So far on my Pluriel I've had to change the rear window mechanism, aerial, stereo & a few other small jobs. I now have roof problems (won't close or open properly & nasty loud rattle from rear right of roof) and of course that means the boot won't open either! Suz from Kent

I called out the AA and after some head he checked the battery and said it was at full power. After an hour or so of head scratching he could not work out what it was. In desperation he disconnected the battery and left it for about 15 minutes and then reconnected and it started. He said it could be a problem that the car had turned to Eco mode. However, the same problem happened again this morning and the second AA man came and looked, disconnected the battery, but this time the car would not go to N. He tried very and was very frustrated. After almost 2 hours we agreed that there was nothing he could do. Has anyone else had the same experience as if so what was the solution?????

Hi, I have had my Pluriel since 2008. It was a new car but the boot leaked from day one. I now keep an old plastic mat on the floor of the boot to protect it from getting wet. Everything apart from that went well until a fortnight ago when the boot would not open. Within a day or so I had reason to let back the top and it became stuck and would not close. The garage put these problems right but I was told that the windscreen wipers would not turn off and the central locking was not working. The whole repair cost £1143.77. I have just got my car back only to find that the petrol gauge is not working and according to the mileage the 2-3 miles I travelled from the supermarket clocked up about 10 miles. Can anyone suggest how I reset the mileage without the need to return it to the garage and incur more debt?

Would you be kind enough to let me know the contact details for your garage? I live on the Isle of Wight and have a Pluriel which, for the last two weeks or so, is without opening roof and boot. The dealer here has said a new roof is the only answer and quoted £3000, more than the car is worth. They don't attempt the cable mechanism repair, which I think is what your garage has successfully carried out. I'd be grateful for any help, Many thanks, Kathy Howells kathy howells from Isle of Wight

Where are the rear window sensors on my car, as it seems to think the rear window is open when it is not? I understand that this could be due to the sensors and I should try holding the window down to see if they work, but do not know where to apply pressure? Thank you.
