Hi, could anyone help me? I am trying to find the connector in the passenger side that is apparently under the fuse box that Citroen used to convert lhd to rhd, this connector is giving me a code p1161 and needs to be deleted. Could someone put a picture up that shows this connector, or failing that a description of exactly where it is? Any help would be appreciated, thank you

Answers

The connector is an obd2 socket, this is to the left hand side of the glove box. It's covered with a flat plastic blanking panel approx 8" x 4"... Pry the panel off with a trim tool or similar. You would then need to plug in diagnosic equipment to read and delete the codes present.... Dave lockett from Cheshire

Hi, I started the car this morning and noticed that the petrol pedal was slightly further down than the others, not sure if it was like that before? I tried to pull it up a little thinking that would help but all it did was make a warning light on my dashboard light up ( the one that looks like an engine). I think that not enough fuel is reaching the engine when I first set off in the car, once I'm going the car is perfect. It is just the initial star that I really have to put my foot down in order for me not to get going. I am planning on taking it into a garage tomorrow I just wanted to know if I'm alright using it till then and do I have to specifically go to a Citroen garage. Will any good one do? Also, is the problem there because I did something to it (as I used it last night and it was fine when I parked etc). Please can anyone help :) Many thanks

Hello, my car keeps cutting out. The engine will just cut out if I'm in heavy traffic and doesn't happen frequently. It turns on again but sometimes this will keep repeating and I have to abandon the car until the morning and it's fine again. I would love some answers as I keep chucking money at it. I have already changed the crank shaft sensor and it didn't help. The car has done 60,000 miles

Hi, My citroen c3 has suddenly started beeping at random intervals. Started yesterday afternoon. I know they're warning beeps but I don't know what for. They seem to occur at random, sometimes I can go a whole journey with none but sometimes all I have to do is turn the engine on and it beeps up to 12 times continuously. It does it completely randomly, sometimes when braking, sometimes when just driving along and sometimes when I'm not even moving. It is not the handbrake, doors, seatbelt, clutch, there are no warning lights on, all my lights work, the brakes work, oil, power steering fluid and coolant are all fine, it drives fine too. It's driving me insane! Have to drive 250 miles tomorrow for a funeral so I really need to know what it is asap. Any advice/ideas welcome! Suzie

Hi everyone, my girlfriend has a Citroen C3 and recently the car started shaking while you are driving and when you turn left. It`s like the car is losing power and regains power, everything stays on, nothing goes dead but it`s doing it a lot now. It`s not wheel alignment or anything that I can see. I tried to look for a wire that`s loose but can`t find anything. Problem no 2 is when she is in traffic the car starts overheating. Now I have changed the heat sensor but it still does that. We took the car for a service but the guys at Citroen want to charge us an arm and a leg to look for the problem.

I seem to have a problem with my immobiliser / computer / key - I have already paid over £100 to Citroen dealership to diagnose the problem but they have not yet come up with a definite answer. They want to "try" a new key next. It just seems to be spiralling costs while they trial-and-error to find a solution ... I thought they were the experts?! Is there anywhere else I can take my car as I don't trust them! The car now rarely starts first time and the message reads "anti theft faulty". The central locking hasn't worked for some time - I thought it was the battery in the key but now I think all the problems might be related. They have tried reprogramming the keys but said the computer could not read the keys. I don't understand all this stuff and feel like I am being ripped off by the very people who should know the car best? Thanks in advance for any help!

Purchased the Citroen C3 semi automatic second hand about 6 months ago. Did not have it very long before it started to come up with faults on the dashboard, ie faulty brakes, faulty air bag, faulty ABS, faulty light sensor. It then goes into a mode where it revs and jerks while driving, sometimes stops altogether and won't start again. Have had it at a few different mechanics who complete a diagnostic check and supposedly clear the faults, but the problem still persists and seems to be getting worse. At a loss now as to what to do as a mechanic does not seem to know how to fix it. Any ideas please?

Please contact me now to keep my mind of clear. Thanks

Answers

Tour car won't stop when the service miles are up. It will still drive as normal but will have the spanner symbol on the dash to remind you that a service is required. You can reset this light yourself at any time then it will go back to default mileage till next service. To reset the light..... Put the ignition key in but don't turn it. Press and hold the trip reset button(the one on the right side of the speedo clocks). While holding it in turn on ignition till dash lights come on. DONT START THE ENGINE. when you turn the key on you will see a timer count down from ten to 0 on the dash. When the count down as finished, turn the ignition off. Let the button go. The service light is now reset. So the next time you start the engine the service mileage will be at default. (12,000 miles I think). Hope this helps. Mark from South Yorkshire

I have a 12 plate diesel C3, had it for 2 years and for the past couple of months this sound has appeared from the rear nearside wheel. It sort of appears louder when I pick up speed as if it's spinning in the air. I think it's something to do with the brakes. Anybody else had this problem? I'm also picking up on a sound now when I brake, the sound appears as I'm pressing on it. Very odd, any ideas would be helpful! Thank you.

I'm having intermittent starting problems. The key turns however the brake pedal is stiff and it won't start. I bought a new battery it didn't help. I bought a new brake light switch as advised by the AA man, still the same. It sometimes does it twice a week, sometimes 2 or 3 times a day and seems to be getting worse. It sometimes starts after 2nd or 3rd try other times I've had to wait 25 mins. Fine if you're home however not when you're at tesco's or getting petrol. Can anyone suggest anything before I go to the garage. Don't want to be ripped off with them trying this and that. It's a 2004 automatic sensordrive. Thankyou in advance.

Hi, I have the exact same problem with my Citroen C3 which is also 2004 senso drive. It's so annoying. I've taken it to mechanics four times now, (two different ones) but they can't find anything wrong with it. Said they can try a few things but like you I don't want to spend loads of money until I know exactly what is wrong! It's got to the point now where I leave the car running if popping into a shop, always make sure I have someone with me! Petrol station is a right palava, I hate it as I panic it's not going to start so I take two keys with me, one to keep the engine running while I am using the other to open up the petrol cap! I will be so happy if someone can reply with some help on sorting this? Laura Wilson from Essex

Hi Laura, it would be great to talk to someone who is having the same problems. I think Citroen should sort for free as it's a Citroen fault by the sounds of it. Julie Aylott from Hertfordshire

Hi I think the problem on my car has been solved!! I had to call AA out last week as it wouldn't start after an hour and half. The AA man said 100% that it's the starter motor. To get it starting he had to whack the starter motor few times with a hammer!! And then told me to drive it straight to my garage. I've now had a new starter motor put in and just got it back over weekend. Took for a drive did few stops and starts and was fine!! So my fingers are crossed ! So far it's okay so I thought id let you know. My mechanic could tell straight away it was the starter motor when it wouldn't start for him. He said it's the clicking noise that's the clue ? Also apparently it's common for the starter motor to be a problem intermittently and then to get bad like mine that it doesn't want to strt at all! Problem I had before was that it always started for the mechanics so they couldn't be 100% sure!! And I wasn't the most helpful in telling them! If I had told them it was a clicking noise when trying to start that would have helped! Hope this helps for you. Laura Wilson from Essex

Hi, I have also been having many problems with my Citroen C3 2004 Semi Automatic. I have had the car for 2 years, when I first bought it it broke down within 3 weeks. The peddle was stiff and appeared to be in shut down mode, fortunately I was under warentee and manage to get the dealership to pay for the problem which was a reconditioned gear box and other random bits and bobs. The care ran fine after that until recently. I was driving to work one day and the car would not go into gear, it the started to shudder (which has been a problem since I purchased the car); it then completely shut down and was not drivable. I was left with no choice but to call AA who then took the car to a mechanics. The mechanic I took the car to seemed confident he could fix the problem, I was not convinced however, left the car in he's hands. Four weeks later, and yes I did say four weeks later I went to establish what was going on!! The Mechanic said it was the sensor and that I would need to take it to a Citroen Dealership, he also pointed out that my best bet was to sell the car as paying for the repair would probably set me back a few £££. The car seemed to turn on and drive for a short while on and off, the mechanic said it was due to the engine over heating which was the cause of my problem. My partner decided to take a risk and took the car to a local shop, he said it shuddered slightly however, got him there and back. I then took the car out this morning and just about managed to get to the end of my road, the car continue to go in and out of gear and then just shut down. I left it for a while turning the key however, it never started it. If anyone is dealing with this same problem I would love to hear your story. I plan to see the car and upgrade, may I point out that I will never purchase a French car again. Fords and Vauxhalls seem to be easier to manage. Hannah from Greater London
