Press release: Scrappage extension is a welcome boost to the commercial sector

Scrappage extension is a welcome boost to the commercial sector

Commercial vehicle deals website www.TheVanWebsite.co.uk has welcomed the extension of the scrappage scheme which will make vans as young as eight years old eligible for scrapping in exchange for a £2,000 discount off a new van.

The website which features deals on light commercial vehicles to buy or lease has welcomed the revision of the eligibility criteria as a much needed boost to the commercial sector and particularly small businesses.

As only vehicles up to 3.5 tonne are eligible, it is the small ‘man with a van’ business which is most likely to benefit. At a time of recession these small businesses are most in need of Government support.

Richard Lawton, Marketing Manager for TheVanWebsite.co.uk said: “Commercial vehicles are the lifeblood of our economy. As they tend to have high annual mileage, for the sake of efficient, safe and clean business operations, the opportunity to upgrade work vehicles is very important.

“The news not only of an additional £100 million of Government for the scrappage scheme but also a lowering of the age of eligible commercial vehicles is a welcome boost.”
