The Toyota Land Cruiser held its value better than any other car on the market in 2011, a new report from Glass’s Guide reveals.
The latest figures from the residual value experts reveals the top ten performing cars of the year with off-roaders and diesels dominating the results. The league table measures the average value of cars reaching three years of age by 2011 and consists of 58 plate cars.
Six out of the seven top spots are taken lifestyle and off-road 4x4s, with the Landcruiser followed by the Ford Kuga, Audi Q5, Porsche Cayenne, Volvo XC60 and the Suzuki Jimny. Other models in the top ten include the Fiat 500, Volkswagen Scirocco, Alfa Romeo Mito and Volkswagen Golf.
Seven of the top ten entries are diesel powered cars, which is particularly popular fuel source for running four wheel drive vehicles on. Many of the vehicles in the top ten table also largely benefit from being fairly new in their product life cycle. The Kuga, Q5, XC60, 500, Scirocco, MITO, and Golf were all introduced to the market in 2008, meaning that 2011 is the first year that used car customers have been given the opportunity to buy these cars as three year old examples, which influences their desirability.
