Jaguar Land Rover create 1000 new jobs at Solihull plant

Some good news now for British manufacturing, Jaguar Land Rover has announce the creation of 1,000 new jobs at its Solihull plant.

The decision to increase employee numbers at the plant by 25 per cent comes as a result of ambitious new product plans as part of a multi-billion pound investment. A new recruitment campaign starts today, with Jaguar Land Rover expecting to receive many thousands of applications.

The creation of the new jobs marks a turn-around for the company which back in 2009 sought loans to help fund its operations, as global car sales crashed. After being sold by Ford to Tata Motors, the Indian firm has worked to turn the firm’s fortunes around and now Jaguar Land Rover is believed to be planning ‘40 significant product actions over the next five years’.

Commenting on the new opportunities, Des Thurlby, HR Director at Jaguar Land Rover said: "We have a loyal and committed workforce at Solihull. These jobs are well paid with great benefits. We provide high quality training and development for all our employees and we expect to receive many thousands of applications."

The recruitment campaign which launches with national print and radio advertisements today is looking for production operators and skilled trades people.
