Kia is to launch a topless version of its crossover Soul model in the UK by 2014 according to news agency, Headlineauto.co.uk.
The drop top version will be especially aimed at the UK and German markets where convertibles sell strongly and where Kia already has a strong customer base.
The Soul convertible is part of Kia’s plans to project a younger, more sporty image, Lee Soon Nam, director of the company’s overseas marketing group told the agency.
Also on the cards is a sporty version of the European-built Ceed to rival the VW Golf GTI. Lee revealed that Kia is developing a turbo-charged 2-litre engine for the car along re-tuned suspension.
