Suzuki has has revised and updated its popular Grand Vitara model to feature a cleaner and sophisticated bodyline without the rear mounted spare wheel.
The new look gives the car’s three and five door models a more ‘urban’ look in line with the growing popularity for crossover models. This latest change also sees the model’s over length shrink by 200mm, while the spare wheel is replaced with a tyre repair sealant and inflationary device.
However while the Vitara now may be better suited to city life and will settle into suburban life without being distinguishable from the host of crossover models, Suzuki says its not at the expense of its off-road capabilities- which remain undiminished. The Grand Vitara is one of just a few compact 4x4’s in it’s class to include electronically switchable high and low gear ratios and differential lock as standard equipment.
Available on five door models only, the 1.9 DDiS engine has been revised to meet Euro 5 regulations which has resulted in fewer emissions than before at 179g/km (down from 185g/km). Economy has been improved too with the five-door now achieving 41.5mpg on the combined cycle. 1.6 and 2.4-litre petrol engines are available for three door models and 2.4 petrol for the five door.
