Its the Geneva Motor Show next week and a whole host of exciting new concepts, stunning debuts and forthcoming production models will be there in force when the doors to the show open to the public on Thursday, March 4, 2010.
If you fancy a trip to Switzerland, tickets are still available to the show and can be bought on the show’s website.
For those that can’t go, don’t worry RoadTestReports.co.uk will bring you the latest and greatest from the show.In advance we thought we would put together a guide to some of the exciting models you can expect to see at the show.
Audi: The new RS 5 Coupe available to order in the UK in spring – with the first deliveries due in October will take pride of place at Audi’s stand. Expected to cost from around £58,500 OTR, the high-revving V8 powered coupe is a re-interpretation of the elegant A5. Along with this Audi’s new shrink wrapped offering, the A1 will be the carmaker’s first small car hatchback. Available to order in the UK from May – prices expected to start from £13,000 – with the first deliveries in quarter 4 of 2010.
Chevrolet: The star on the Chevrolet stand will be the Aveo RS show car, celebrating its European premiere after its world debut at the North American International Auto Show last month. The show car features a dynamic hot hatch look and provides a preview of the next-generation Aveo. Longer, wider and more spacious than the current production Aveo, the Aveo RS comes with upscale-looking design cues both inside and out, and presents the many personalisation options potentially available on the next-generation car.
Citroen: The French carmaker has already announced two exciting new models for Geneva with the DS HIGH RIDER concept, a diesel hybrid model and the limited edition DS3 Racing both confirmed to debut at the show. Other models on display will include the new C3 and DS3 – and there will be the opportunity to see Citroën’s all-electric C-ZERO.
Ford: Is set to display an all-new C-car, the latest C-MAX range , a new Kuga which will combine more performance with reduced CO2 emissions and a new Ford Mondeo range, benefitting from new high-efficiency powertrains.
Honda: The CR-Z hybrid coupe will make its world debut at the 2010 Geneva International Motor Show in March. The CR-Z’s compact 2+2 coupe body with emissions expected to be around 117g/km CO2, it will go on sale in the UK in the summer. Along with it, the FCX Clarity – Honda’s zero-emission fuel cell electric vehicle plus the latest 2010 CR-V, introduced earlier this year, and the current Jazz, Insight, Civic, Civic Hybrid and Accord models will also be on display. The 3R-C, a revolutionary one-person battery electric vehicle concept will also be there along with another electric concept, the EV-N.
Kia: Will reveal a new Sportage model which goes on sale in the UK later this year.
Lexus: Just six months after revealing the LF-Ch concept, Lexus is set to unveil its new CT 200h model at the Geneva motor show. The CT 200h will be the first full hybrid vehicle in the premium compact segment. Along with it, the critically acclaimed Lexus LFA supercar will also be on show just ahead of the initial order period for the model coming to a close.
Mazda: A new Mazda MX-5 20th anniversary edition will premiere at Geneva Motor Show.This model, which will have a limited production run of just 2,000 units, will only be available in Europe. Mazda will also highlight its continuing environmental programmes in Geneva with the European premiere of its next-generation SKY Concept – including the SKY-G petrol and SKY-D diesel with significantly reduced emissions. New Mazda 6 and 5 models will also be displayed before they go on sale this year.
Nissan: Will showcase the new mini Qashqai model, the Juke, along with it’s electric Leaf model. Updated Qashqai, Pathfinder and Navara models will also be on display along with a roadster version of the famous 370Z.
Renault: Will unveil a brand new coupe roadster concept called the Wind along with a new Mégane Coupé-Cabriolet.
Suzuki: Will showcase the Swift plug-in hybrid along with a new ‘D’ segment model, the Kizashi Saloon. The Kizashi is the new flagship vehicle in the Suzuki range and will be on sale in the Swiss market this year. The Kizashi recently went on sale in Japan and North America and will also be launched in Australia in May. A new Grand Vitara model will also be displayed before its on-sale date in the UK in July.
Toyota: Will be showcasing the new Auris hybrid set to go on sale in Europe this summer. Along with it, a new electric concept, the FT-EV and a plug-in version of the Prius will further boost the brand’s eco-credentials. The FT-86 sports concept will also be making its first European appearance along with the next generation RAV4
Vauxhall: Is set to debut an all-new range-extended concept car called the Flextreme GT/E, set to demonstrate that technology behind the Ampera concept is compatible with a larger saloon-type vehicle. Of course the Ampera itself will be there, along with the latest Corsa ecoFLEX and an all-new Meriva model.
Volvo: An all-new S60 will showcase reduced emissions, better performance and a host of new technologies including ground-breaking Pedestrian Detection with Full Auto Brake technology.
