Performs efficiently and handles brilliantly. A sporty looking exterior, quality is by far the first word that comes to mind. A comfortable ride with plenty of head room in the front and back. A worthy successor to previous Astra models.

The Astra Sport Hatch performs brilliantly, easily coping with A roads and Motorways. With an engine power of 90 bhp, the 1.4 SXi exceeded expectations and has the ability to reach 0-62 mph in 12.7 seconds. Road noise is impressively quiet which is one of the Astra’s strengths, while wind noise is also kept to a low level.

I was pleased with the handling of the car especially with the comfort of a light clutch pedal which makes driving in traffic a breeze. Steering is responsive with the corner handling made quick and light in movement. The Cornering brake control makes life a lot easier. The ride is quite supple even with the lowered sport suspension where most are extremely firm.

The exterior of the SXi range definately looks the part almost identical to the SRi range with a sleek body trim including 5 twin spoke 16” alloy wheels. The interior is quite basic compared to others on the road but is very comfortable and has all the usual functions you would expect. The car feels solid on the road and is certainly reliable. Whether driving at high speeds on the Motorway or driving in heavy traffic, the Astra Sport Hatch is complimented with quality and reliability.

With front and side airbags fitted and with anti-lock breaks, the Astra Sport Hatch definitely passes the safety test. The car is fitted with remote central deadlocking (doors/boot lid/fuel flap) including an interior switch for central locking and has a Vauxhall Engine Deadlock immobiliser system. Everything you would expect for a car of this class, very secure.

Not the most spacious car in it’s class but neither is it restrictively small. The Astra Sport Hatch will definitely suit most buyers needs, head and shoulder room in front and back is quite impressive for a 3 door Hatch compared to most others. Enough boot space which is practical for all buyers interests.

If you are looking for a reliable and responsive sporty hatch, I would definitely consider you try out the Astra Sport Hatch. With a good average miles per gallon of 46.3 MPG and with fairly low CO2 emissions, this car is truly a major competitor for a car of this class.
