Peugeot has introduced the Partner Tepee Outdoor to its range. The French maker is expecting lots of interest to come from families who need lots of space. So how did the Partner Tepee measure up when we put it to the test?
Powering our Partner Tepee outdoor was a 1.6-litre diesel engine, which had an output of 110bhp and the Tepee has 177lb ft of maximum torque, which should allow you to get past slower moving traffic. The performance figures are very respectable seeing that this version has been derived from the new Partner van. It will get from 0-62mph in 14.3 seconds and has a top speed of 103mph. The figures are backed up when you get the Tepee on the road, as it does not feel sluggish or breathless when pulling away from a standing start or a slow pace.
Impressive for this type of car! When on the road the Partner Tepee makes light work of most jobs. It is ideal for motorway cruising and even on B-roads it performs well. There is a little body roll when cornering but this is far from being a sports car so one expects this. Our test car was the Outdoor model which means luxury as this is the top of the range Partner Tepee. Fitted as standard to this car is a height adjustable driver's seat – this makes long journey's pass with ease and gives the driver a great view of the road.
The build quality and reliability is pretty good. Peugeot has taken the Partner and turned it into the Partner Tepee, you can see the French maker has worked hard to get the fittings right and make this a family car and remove the van like-look. The cabin is finished well and the plastics used are of high quality but seem durable at the same time. The switch-gear and gauges are all well placed and within easy reach of the driver. The maker has used quality materials on the seats, and over long journeys, seem really comfortable. All the shut lines fit neatly together and the doors shut with a quality-sounding thud.
Peugeot has made the Partner Tepee Outdoor a safe place to travel in. The maker has installed ABS and EBA to help you get stopped in a safe and controlled manner. There's a driver airbag and a passenger airbag to protect occupants up-front in a crash and as this is the Outdoor and top of the range, it also comes with side and curtain airbags as well. The Partner Tepee Outdoor comes with remote central locking and deadlocks to stop thieves from taking your vehicle.
On the space and practicality front the Partner Tepee Outdoor performs well. There is plenty of room in the rear for two adults and you could easily squeeze a third one in. There are plenty of cubby-holes up front. There's even a drawer underneath the driver and passenger seats just in case you need a little extra space. If that's not enough what about the full width front overhead storage shelf – a boon for storing maps and light luggage that's necessary on long journey's. As our car was the Outdoor trim level it comes with roof bars as standard so that you can get a roof-box on top if you need even more space.
The Peugeot Partner Tepee Outdoor is a great tool for a family and it is competitively priced as it starts from £15,305. It drives well both on motorways and B-roads. Not only is the Partner Tepee Outdoor practical it is pretty green to as it emits 147g/km of CO2 which means a tax band of C and £120 of VED per annum. Peugeot claims it will do 50.4mpg on the combined cycle.
