The Mondeo Edge is sophisticated and affordable. It has an array of creature comforts and technology. It delivers just about everything you would expect from a family car.

For a large car the Mondeo generally perfoms well, however the 1.8 petrol engine does make it a little sluggish. I would definitely recommend paying that little extra for the 2.0l or even the 2.5l.

This is a graceful car to drive. The steering wheel responds to the slightest touch. Although it is a relatively big car it is surprisingly agile and it doesn’t take much effort to make it do what you want!

Ford has tried hard to improve the overall quality of the Mondeo and I think they have succeeded. The Mondeo is definitely up there with its rivals in overall quality and feel. Engine reliability is excellent, as is to be expected for a unit built for reliability.

With front, rear and side airbags, and ABS included as standard, this sturdy car makes you feel exceptionally safe. It scored 4 stars in the NCAP crash tests. Fitted deadlocks and remote central locking are also standard.

The Mondeo has masses of room in the back for two children. It could easily seat three adults comfortably without sparing any space for the front passenger. It has a generously sized boot with ample room for a couple of large suitcases or a big trip to the supermarket.

If it’s a good size affordable family car you are looking for then the Mondeo ticks all the boxes. The only downside is the depreciation in the resale value.
