Renault Laguna Hatch Dynamique 2.0T 2005

I have owned Laguna’s since 1994 and they represent excellent value - depreciation is high so being prepared to keep for a good few years. The 2005 version (just replaced by 2007 version) is an excellent all round car which gives space, reliability and practicality.

Purchased Sept 06, after 1000 miles had squeaky brakes, to which still to this day Renault can not find a repair to. I have been advised it’s since the new shape and still on-going fault finding. My car has been in several times to have the brakes cleaned. If feels like i am driving a 25 year old car! The wipers come on, on there own - even on a very sunny day. The lights on the dash board have had to be repaired as they failed twice. Now I have no radio, the clock back light on permanently and the mpg/mph clock going up and down erratically. I am still outstanding a response from Renault which I sent yesterday to put an end to the on-going problems. Fingers crossed!

I think the car looks great with the roof up or down. It goes extremely well 130 bhp engines are very smooth and in fact I would say it is quieter than my own car which is a 320d. Was very impressed with the roof mechanism; very slick. However from the early stages of ownership it started to leak just a drip or two nothing two serious, thought it was perhaps normal but then the problem got worse. It was in and out of the dealership a few times but no improvement at all, decided to take it to another dealership thinking perhaps it was down to the quality of the mechanics. That dealership kept if for a week and handed the car back and basically said they were unable to fix it (Car has 6 month warranty left). Its in the hands of Renault UK to sort out, they tell me they are going to send an expert over to assess and fix the roof, but it would appear that from other reviews people across the UK are experiencing similar problems so I am not hopeful. It is a real shame my wife loves the car and so do I. Not sure where to go from here. The car is two and half years old now I cant see Renault giving us our money back.

I purchased this car last August with my partner- (Renault Ilford). He told me endless times not to go for a Renault especially a coupe cab - but this is the car I wanted and I did not listen!!! The car to me is very attractive but that is all what is going for it. I had endless problems - the handbrake needed to be replaced - and also the clutch (thank god I had warranty)!! Then it decided to completely cut out (4 times) when I was pulling out of a junction or roundabout (which nearly involved me and my baby in TWO accidents). After endless returns to Renault Ilford I had had enough!!!!! I then had to involve solicitors as I was not excepting anymore bulls*it from them. (I was literally ready to drive the car through their showroom). I got a complete refund and also out of pocket expenses. I would say never ever purchase one of these cars, unless you’re willing to put up with the endless problems which occur with these vehicles! I thought that this may have been a one off but looking and hearing reviews (bad ones) of these cars it just shows there are many more people like me who have parted with there well eared cash on a car they thought would be the best thing ever but turned out to be the worst and most of all the most time consuming mistake ever!!!!!!! Please be warned.

I love Renaults, i really do, this is my second one and i will replace it with another, it may not look that spectacular but it provides all i need, it has 3 proper seat belts in the back and it feels safe and secure. It drives comfortable, it’s not a gas guzzler and not too bad for the environment. With petrol costs spiralling out of control it’s economical too. Boot space is good; it can handle a trip to Tesco and the huge amounts of groceries a family of 5 consume. I would highly recommend Renaults to everyone. Happy driving.

Loved the shape of the car and looks very nice from the inside. Only thing is since i bought the car a year and half ago we have had nothing but engine problems with it and now only after 53000 miles the turbo has blown in the car and you don’t expect something like that to happen on a new car and now it will cost 1800 just to repair the car which I find very expensive.

I have had this car for 18 months now and as much as I want to love it I find nothing but problem after problem. Past problems: Firstly the car was creaky after investigation the garage said the bolts needed tightening inside the frame of the car. Also the air conditioning had to be replaced because of a rattling noise. Ongoing problems with no fix: The suspension creaks (they did replace the rear suspension but problem still there). The brakes squeak (they told me there was nothing they could do as my car already had the "fix". The parcel shelf rattles. Current problems: The roof leaks which they have had in the garage but have not fully fixed. The inside of the roof frame seems to be collecting water and sloshes about when you drive (they tried to tell me it was the fuel tank i could hear) the drivers heated seat is faulty (they are fixing this weekend, hopefully!!) I wish I never bought the car and am now stuck with a car that cost me a lot of money and is not worth anything.

Good car, just a pity about some of the components that they used to make it with. I.e. the exhaust and electric window motors seem to fail after a few years. Other than that a good little car.
