BMW X3 Full Road Test Report

BMW very rarely make mistakes but that is what has happened here. Not up to BMW’s usually high standards, the X3 performs more like a saloon than the compact SUV it purposes to be and the build quality is simply not good enough for a vehicle of this price. Budget BMW.... read more

BMW 3-Series Saloon 320d SE 2007

Wow! Better than anything else I have ever driven. BMW quality means I have had no trouble with this one or the previous company car I had which was a 3-Series as well. Build quality, drive and performance are second to none and the residuals are great too.

BMW 1-Series Coupe 123d SE 3dr 2007

I test drove a 1-Series Coupe at Millbrook not long ago. It was agile, elegant and the engines were just brilliant. The variant I drove was the 123d SE 3dr and I was mightily impressed and will be purchasing one as soon as is humanly possible.

BMW 1-Series Coupe 120d SE 2007

Having previously owned the old BMW 3 series Coupe I was torn between replacing it with the new 3 series coupe or the all new 1 series Coupe. I’m glad I made the choice I did! I think it is a fantastic looking car and far better handling that the 1 series Hatch. The diesel engines as always go like stink from the off and with the addition of the 123d even more poke is now on offer! Not the most practical car you will ever own and ride may be too hard for some. Great residuals mean a good car buying prospect and cheap Contract Hire and Leasing deals should be available soon!!

BMW 3-Series Coupe 320i SE 2dr

This is a very refined car. It out performs any car I have driven before (Mercedes, Audi, Alpha Romeo) and really does put the enjoyment back into driving. The well laid out interior comfortably seats 4 adults and iDrive controller is easy to get to grips with. Whilst I wasn’t expecting high mpg I did think I could rely on the 23mpg quoted in the book - that is my only gripe because it’s no where near.

BMW 3-Series Touring 320D SE Auto

Over-priced, over-rated and over-hyped snob-mobile. The so-called "Touring" is no better than a hatchback for which you pay a 1K premium over the saloon. The big selling point is the excellent handling (in the dry), but you pay for it with the ride. Mind you, it is a different beast in the wet. I have had scary moments at well under the speed limit! Harsh standard ride, and sport models are bone-shakers. Average quality standard kit, such as the radio and plastics, and the seats are uncomfortable and not supportive. Diesel engine more powerful and refined than competitors but still far too agricultural. Quiet on the motorway, though. Fuel economy is as claimed by the manufacturer - credit to them for that. The Auto box can’t make up it’s mind what gear to be in around town, so it "hunts" badly at times. Fiddly direction indicators are potentially dangerous. Ugly exterior stying is typical of the "Chris Bangle" era. Yes, it wins awards, But that is because all the enthusiasts care about who give out these awards is the handling. BOTTOM LINE: I wish that I had not wasted my money on this car.

Car generally adequate but ride atrocious on run flat tyres. They are not worth it. The car never ever settles on the road. Crashes over imperfections. Looking forward to replacing them with proper tyres. Otherwise OK for £34k.

In my opinion this is the best amongst the 1-series. A smooth ride with excellent economy and suspension make this an all-round perfect car.

Superb car, a dream to drive. This car has been designed with love, everything has been thought of from the beautiful hand built engine to the hidden valves on the tyres. Sheer motoring heaven.

This car in my opinion is fantastic, great performance and handling even on poor road surfaces. 33mpg with mixed driving can’t be bad with the performance this car produces. Pity the dealer wasn’t so efficient but thats another story.
