BMW very rarely make mistakes but that is what has happened here. Not up to BMW’s usually high standards, the X3 performs more like a saloon than the compact SUV it purposes to be and the build quality is simply not good enough for a vehicle of this price. Budget BMW.... read more

I work in the motor industry and was able to blag my way into a test drive of the X6 under the guise of research for press purposes. BMW are really keeping the X6 under wraps and I am honoured to have already had a brief (very) run in it. These were my first thoughts... The X6 is much bigger than is suggested in the press photos, bigger than the X5 and a look I would describe as a scorpion poised to strike. There are four individual seats for passengers and the boot room is impressively big. The X6 cornered well and the feeling you get when driving it is of safety and stability. The X6 is going to be a huge success; there is no doubt about it. Unfortunately my time in it was too short to make a full appraisal but I loved what I saw and felt and would not think twice about getting one if the opportunity arose.

This is truly a great car to drive. Engine gave excellent performance and economy when I drove down to Italy for 2 weeks. The quality builds better than my E class and surprisingly no flex in the body as you get with most convertibles. I bought this new and it has been totally reliable.

I’m now on my second X3 and, yes, the ride is firm however you don’t get cornering on rails with soggy suspension. For its size and weight it performs very well with fuel economy better than a large number of saloon cars. I have towed a caravan all over Europe and it’s a very good tow car. The new model is much improved over the previous model. Being quieter, smoother and more compliant on the road it’s excellent in snow and mud and it has that badge on the front and back.

I’ve leased the X3 for almost two years now and have not been disappointed. My diesel, manual drive has returned approximately 48mpg on a run and 34mpg round town. I find the ride comfortable and not too hard at all. I would recommend it and am thinking of replacing my existing X3 with another one except that I do not see as good a deal as I got last time.

This car is the entry model dressed to kill with 17" alloys bigger than the SE 16" alloys front and rear muscular bumpers ,half leather ,interior climate control ,and the usual BMW features that give it the edge over the others in its class. Dont think for one minute BMW have cut corners with this being the entry series it is every bit a BMW in all ways.

I drove a Saab Aero Auto, Audi A6 Avant. The X5 gives "Sports" performance with car handling. The Auto / Manual tiptronic box is great, and yes it smooths out all the bumps in the Yorkshire roads. An excellent machine. I am a pensioner as well.

Just an excellent car. I’ve not stopped grinning since I bought mine. You can keep your TT’s and all the other pretenders, this car has power, pace and class. Beautiful to look at and equally wonderful to drive. This is a car that loves you to drive it.
