My Ford Ka has just started changing direction randomly at speeds over 40 mph, it feels as if it’s been caught by a gust of wind, any suggestions as to the cause? There’s no obvious knocking or rumbling sounds and at lower speeds it doesn’t seem to happen, tyres are all ok and no advisories referring to the steering or wheel bearings on last MOT. thanks

Ford Focus 2006

Hi, please can someone help? I have had my Ford Focus for 6 years and never had a problem until now. When I switch it on nothing happens at least twice, the third time the engine comes on as does the warning light and all of the warning signs. When the warning lights go out several messages come up -transmission fault; system engine failure; acceleration reduced, which does actually happen. I lose the mileage and also the speedometer and it is driving me barmy. It has a full service history and has just had a service but the garage can’t work out what is wrong . Can anybody help? Thank you for your time.

Am having promble with my ford kuga the seat belt message stay on all the time

Answers

1. With the key out, insert it into the ignition and turn it so that the dash lights up (don't start the engine!) 2. Buckle and unbuckle the seatbelt 9 times (yes, it has to be exactly 9 times, don't ask me why!) 3. The seatbelt warning light should flash briefly to indicate a reset. 4. Turn off ignition and take key out. 5. Now try putting the seatbelt on and driving away, hopefully it will be reset now. Try these to reset David from Malaysia

Hello there Is the information icon situated between the fuel gauge and temperature gauge supposed to flash red every few seconds when the car is locked? I don’t remember seeing it until now and it is not mentioned within the manual. Also there is no message to clear or to confirm, and the cars self diagnostics has confirmed the car is ok and no problems reported…………………………………….……Have I really just not noticed it?..............................................

Hi.I have ford galaxy year 2002.I bought this car this summer. After few month is OK.but when rain is come 1/2 hours my driving foot area full of water and carpet wet. I took garage they say change your windscreen.is leaking.than i changed it.but still wet driving foot area when rain come.pls help me sol e this problem.thanks.

The answer lies in the pollen filters .The rain water runs onto the bulkhead trim , (this is held in with 3 screws) . and in through the openings for the pollen filters I never managed to fix it , but i thought of putting waterproof foam into the filter holes instead of the filters , to prevent it entering the vehicle . stephen from Greater Manchester

Hi Stephen. Thanks for answer but water is not coming from the front clutch side area. When it rains it is dry at the front. It`s coming in the driver`s door side area where all wires. Underneath it`s always wet on that side. It`s a Ford Galaxy 7 seater 2002. If you have any solution please help me. I already spent £100 but they could not find anything. I am having the same problem and unable to find out if this a normal feature of the car or a fault, would be pleased if anyone can give an answer Maurice from Gloucestershire

It is normal for the lights to stay on for up to 15 minutes for the car to conduct diagnostic checks, any longer than this I would think of looking at your battery life or your alternator. You can conduct the mechanic`s test and check how much power is in your battery, mine reads 12.1 when the car is off and 14.2 when the car is on demon from Cheshire

Answers

Hi. Without the radio serial number you will not be able to get the radio code. If you have the s/no I might be able using my radio code software be able to tell you what it is. I will need also the make of the radio Keith Thompson from Yorkshire

The serial number is found on a label stuck to the casing of the radio itself, behind the facia. Its not difficult to remove - all you need is a pair of radio removal keys (£1 on ebay). Insert them into the two pairs of vertical holes you will see on the front, push the removal tools outward then gently ease the radio out from the plastic facia until the label becomes visible. Post the serial number on here (M xxxxxx) and one of us will be able to get the code for you. (NB Codes for radios with serial numbers that start with the letter V as opposed to M can only be obtained from a Ford dealer) Brian from Cornwall

You need to go in to the menu & scroll across & then down to the reset icon that appears, there is nothing in the manual I can find that tells you what to do, This happened to me Christmas Eve & the dealer couldn't find how to do it. In the end Ford Technical said disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to reset the system which also failed. I found the icon reset by default but it is there! you need to know what to do as all new cars have to have this system fitted apparently & it will form part of the MOT! Keith from North Yorkshire

Hi Raj, Sounds like your injectors are leaking. What happens when the car is parked overnight is, the injectors drip and all the fuel collects in the chambers. The chambers would be flooded by the morning. Once all the fuel burns up and it normalizes, the miss goes away. That's why you may not have issues during the day. Have the injectors tested and see that they're holding pressure. It should sort out your problem Neil from South Africa

I had a 1996 2.0 ltr petrol galaxy that suffered from this problem . On either side of the seat, there are brackets that hinge the seat so that it folds. They are covered by the plastic covers that the tilt or fold lever pokes out of . They prevent your fingers getting hurt .The plastic covers have yellow plastic clips/fasteners that clip into the holes on the bracket ,so you will need some new clips ,because you have to pull the covers off . Holding the bracket to the seat are cap head screws . It is these that work loose and fall out . To fix i got some cap head screws from screwfix and replaced them .You will need an allen key for them , to tighten them up. stephen from Greater Manchester

Answers

It sounds like it is either the battery or the starter motor, the loud clicking sounds like the solanoid on the starter motor. Test what voltage you have at the battery, it should be about 12.5v. If not I would put a new battery on, if it has then it has to be the starter motor. I hope this helps you. Adrian Paine from Northamptonshire

The electric blind that covers my panorama roof started to play up, stopping and starting and then the blind became baggy and wouldn't retract properly. I took it to a ford dealer and was told that to replace the blind it would cost £1000, without actually knowing if the mechanics are faulty or not! My car is 16months old and is not covered by warranty, as the blind is classed as trim, yet it could mechanical which would mean it would be. Anybody uncounted similar problems, if so how did you go about getting ford to rectify it.

Hello Lisa, Funny - I have exactly the same problem and was doing a google search and came across your query. I am in touch with Ford about this as the 3 year classic plan warranty that comes with all fords does not mention this as an exclusion. As far as I am concerned the blind is not closing so it is a mechanical fault and should be covered. david from Worcestershire

I am in touch with Ford about this as the 3 year classic plan warranty that comes with all fords does not mention this as an exclusion. As far as I am concerned the blind is not closing so it is a mechanical fault and should be covered. david from Worcestershire

I need urgent help, I have a dashboard warning message reading; Exess. Radiator liquid temp.. It urges me to turn my engine off, I checked the coolant level and it's pretty low. Could this be as simple and a loose clip losing coolant or my actual radiator split? Any recommendations on how to check this problem would be MASSIVELY appreciated! Jonny Durham

Ended up being a snapped thermostat Union! Ford using plastic parts... Shock! Replaced with a metal Union. Engine gets to temperature a lot faster now. Jonny from Durham
