I am one of the many owners on here with a C4 Grand with the awful EGS gearbox. The dealership in Huddersfield are very friendly and in a way understand the frustrating issues we have with this car; we have only had it 12 months but it has been in at least once a month. The car is on the Motability plan and I am so glad we didn’t go out and buy the car or else I would have had Citroen in court over the major failings of this gearbox. My car is in the garage and has been since last Tuesday. We have been having issues where it gets to a roundabout and the car is still in 5th gear as you go onto it but then realises it is too high and instead of just going into 3rd it then just loses all power, goes through every gear this is with me having my foot firmly placed on the accelerator, then it just takes off reving at 6000 rpm and geting confused again. The only way for the car to work correctly is to accelerate very slowly and allow the car to take 5 seconds to change from 1st to second, then to get into 6th in the next 20mph. I think the gearbox was designed by a load of six year olds who have never driven a car before as it is the worst auto box I have ever used. One good thing is that Motability have agreed to place us into a suitable car at Citroen’s cost until my car is repaired. At present I have an E class Mercedes on my drive costing Citroen £200 per day (£1400 so far!) as we would not accept another C1 or DS3 as we carry a powered wheelchair. Hopefully they will finally get the car working correctly as it’s off to Italy at the end of May!

I have had a Grand Picasso through the Motability scheme since last October and it’s a really lovely car, powerful engine, loads of space in the boot for my wheelchair and a very comfy and supportive driving seat. However, I mentioned to the dealer that the automatic transmission felt ’sloppy,’ and it was really taking some encouraging to drive smoothly. In lower gears it was taking up to 3 seconds to change, it didn’t like ’creeping’ slowly under 5 mph and it kangaroo-ed like it needed the clutch pressing - only I don’t have one to press! Anyway, it had to go in today on a recall for a ’software upgrade’ so I asked them to have a look at this issue while it was there. Needless to say the dealer said there was nothing the matter with it... Hmmmm! I have been driving automatics since 1987 so I think I know what I am talking about! Anyway, sofware upgrade done, car returned to me and it’s now driving like a dream, how it should have been in the first place. A quick check online this evening and there’s a heap of posts on this very subject. Seems it has been an ongoing issue with Citroen for a few years!!!! So, Picasso owners, if your transmission feels a bit odd, it isn’t you being fussy, they know about it and there is a fix.

I viewed a new C4 in the showroom 4 days ago. Tried to lower the back seat, which is released by lifting a recessed lever on the seat back. Unfortunatly the strength of the spring in the seat caused it to shoot forward trapping my little finger. This was severly crushed, the nail pulled off and the bone broken. A great reccommendation for safe design!!!

I could not wait to pick up my new Grand C4 Picasso having driven one for 3 years on motability, but after 5 months of driving a car that drops from 2nd back into 1st and loosing speed when pulling out in busy traffic. I have terminated the contract with motability. Halliday Citroen Bushmills were not very helpful and after saying it was driver error (it has done the same with a mechanic and the service manager driving it), it was characteristic and that was how it was meant to drive. I’ve had had enough of this car as on four seperate occasionsit has nearly caused an accident. On one occasions when crossing a T junction it died half way across leaving my passenger (a male) screaming as a car approached blaring its horn; why when a incident like this happens do drivers push their horns instead of their brakes?? I would be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem? Mine is the post Feb 16 HDI that has the 8v instead of the 16v (they are the ones with the LED day time running lights).
