I had the leaking problem but then I realised that I’m not closing the roof properly, I should never stop before I hear the peep and now, no leaking at all.

I purchased this car from new ordering an automatic gearbox due to back operations. It died on me going up a hill in the middle of nowhere after just two weeks. RAC told me to go back to Renault dealer as I needed a complete new coil pack, since then this has happened again and again. Waited three months for a windscreen motor part, from December until March. Apparently the original motor wasn’t up to the job in the first place so all spares were re-called and Renault had to go back to the drawing board. And yes my roof leaks rear left side, massive gap – can’t be bothered any longer :(

Great car I just love it. Had trouble with air cond, which had a leak, now fixed, top of range auto plus all leather; I hate manuals all that clutch work. I would recommend this car to anyone.

I certainly wish I had known this excellent site existed before buying my Megane 1.6 CC in February 2009. Like the majority, it leaks like a sieve passenger and drivers door, and has had several trips back to the dealer for attention. After the last visit, the door windows now stand proud of the roof seals in the up position and it’s worse than ever. What is worrying me more is the hideous judder when accelerating away in first gear. I am quite an experience driver of over 25 years on the road and have never come across anything like this before. It appears to be intermittent and once the car is warm the problem occurs. I have had the car back to the dealer with this problem and, but it never does it with a mechanic at the wheel, it was plugged into the diagnostic machine and showed nothing. Dealer blamed driver. The strange thing is that whenever my partner drives it, there is no judder, so is it me? Any help would be appreciated as this car is getting me down.

As with many of you on this site, we too experienced quite a bad leak in our roof of our Megane convertible, we bought this in march 09 from the Renalut Driveline, Ashford, Kent, but I am hoping that my story turns out to have a happy ending. Our car is just under the standard warranty when we brought it in to have the leaks looked at. We were told the the standard warranty did not cover the roof and seals etc, but they did not brush us aside like many of you unfortunate people ,they agreed to go halfs in the cost of replacing the front seal and re-sealing the panoramic roof, taking out the seats and draining any excess water & carpets etc., until dry. We are really hoping that this will resolve the matter, and that we do not have to part with any more money. The manager seems confident that his service engineers will replace the seals that need doing and there will be no more leaks. I really hope so, as I love my car and it would make all the difference in buying from them again and again. I will return to this site after the car is done and inform you of how it all went.....hopefully it will restore some of your faith in the Renault dealer ships. Watch this space..

I hope this is not the kiss of death but here goes! I, with great trepidation, I may add, bought my Megane 1.6 Dynamique Cabriolet about 5 weeks ago. Touch wood, there have been no glitches yet. I find that if you "do exactly as it says on the tin" she’s great, not a sports car but a nice driver though I do feel the steering to be bit strange after driving a 2002 Suzuki Alto. She’s reasonably nippy and averaging at about 38-40 MPG, for a petrol engine, It seems to be economical. My only gripe is that I find adjusting the seat height and leg room quite difficult, my head at times seeming to touch the roof despite the fact I’m only 5’6" and I can’t seem to get the lumber conrol just right which leaves my back a bit achy after a long trip. But so far I’m happy cruising along listening To the Searchers! At 56 all I can as you’re only old once!

What a motor! What a bargain! The colour is Ruby Red metallic set off by silver roof arches: black leather with white stitching: cruise control: speed limiter: Jarsalle alloys: reversing sensors: Q3 paint treatment... and all for under £16k brand new on a ’59 plate. Yes, it’s now a run-out model but who cares? She, ’Ruby’ of course, is a real head turner either with the roof up or down and so different from the usual black/quartz/silver you so often see! Downsides?.. well, this is not a car you buy with "eyes wide shut" is it? After all, the body flexing or ’scuttle shake’ helps cause the various squeaks and rattles which come as standard on any cabriolet. The ride quality will always be compromised because of this. No spare wheel? a common weight/space saving idea within the motor industry but the Megane CC really should have had one. Don’t moan about it, take more care over your purchase next time! I hope to order a spare from an independent source and I’ll let you know how I get on. My stepdaughter lives in Andorra so I cannot wait to use the cruise on the French A20. Mmmm! Yes there are faults, but no car is perfect. HAPPY MOTORING!!
