Mazda CX-7 2008

2 star review

I bought the car as an ex-demonstrator from a Mazda dealer when it was about 6 months old with about 9000 miles on the clock. First impressions were great, lovely car to drive with plenty of go. The novelty has now worn off however, running cost are high, 21mpg according to the trip computer, it doesn’t seem to make much difference how you drive either and tax at £400 odd per year. The biggest problem though is reliability as a new stearing rack was need, £1000 but done under warranty, the steering rack again plus engine mounts, probably due to not been fitted correctly by the dealer the 1st time, and now the clutch and fly wheel have required replacement at only 19000 miles. £1850 repair cost and Mazda refused to do it under warranty as apparently it’s the way I drive it! Funny, I’ve been driving for 30 odd years and never had to buy a new clutch before, it’s the way they make it more like. Anyway it will have to go now and Mazda can rest assured that I shall never be buying another of their products. Not that that will bother them much I guess...
