The Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet is a car that offers spacious seating, storage compartments and a generous boot. It is ready to whisk you and your friends away to any location far or near, at a moments notice. The Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet: stylish by design, brilliant by nature.

Yes, the alarm does work with the top down, try it yourself. Lock the doors & leave the key in the house. Now try getting something out of the door pocket or centre pocket. Would you really like to leave your car with the top down somewhere you might need it to work though? I think that any vandalism probably won’t be covered. I always put the top back up when I leave it unless it is on the drive. p.s. my roof has never leaked :o)

Following reporting my glass roof imploding while stationery on my driveway to Renault Customer Services they have refused my warranty claim. The only comment they would make is that they have never heard of this type of fault previously. I find this hard to believe given the amount of coverage on various websites relating to similar issues. They have not given me anything in writing or suggested any valid technical reason for this incident. The quotation for the repair is in excess of £3k and the dealer Arnold Clark Renault in Stirling have not sent me a copy of the detailed quotation despite several requests. As someone who has been a loyal Renault customer over the years I am appalled.

I purchased the car in June 2008 and was enjoying it until recently, especially driving with the top down. The roof wasn’t leaking at all. However, now the car has developed a judder when you start up at junctions and did not handle well in the recent cold spell when compared to my previous car (Renault Laguna). The rear parking sensors have stopped working. The worst though is that last week the glass roof imploded falling on my head when I shut the door of the car. The roof had not been hit by anything and there was no other damage to the car bodywork, front or back windscreens to suggest it had. It is currently with the dealer and I am waiting on a response from Renault Customer Services. This is my fourth Renault car and it is the first time I have had reason to complain.

Bought new March 08. It sits outside in all weathers and gets cleaned in a car wash (occasionally). No leaks, in fact no problems of any sort, now on 16400 miles. Regularly gets 47-53 mpg. Complaints - none. Wish list - that the back seats folded down.

Purchased new - noticed pools of water on front passenger seat first time it rained. Vehicle returned to dealership for repair. Front leak fixed but vehicle came back with two leaks to the rear. After eight visits to the dealership to repair the problem Renault have decided that it is a tolerance that cannot be fixed and I will have to put up with a leaking roof. I am now seeking legal advice as I am not prepared to be tolerant and accept this decision.

My first new car for 8 years and very pleased so far except for having NO SPARE WHEEL. Dealer says the two "emergency" spray cans in the boot will reflate a punctured tyre to get you to the nearest garage. What happens if you’re on a motorway miles from anywhere? Asked for a quote for a spare wheel but no response so far. Not good enough, Renault, you are spoiling the ship for a ha’porth of tar!

Must say I’m really glad I bought my car before reading the tails of woe this forum contains! I’m very pleased that, so far, mine is almost perfect. Before I bought I tried all the competition (Peugeot, Vauxhall, Volvo, Saab etc) available & decided that it was the best of the bunch for me. I also know of two people locally who are now on their second car & have been very happy with both of them. My heart goes out to those who’ve not had such a good experience. Only had it for two months (since Feb 08) & 3000 miles but it has stood out in rain, hail, sleet & snow as well as glorious sunshine (albeit a bit chilly). I’m pleased to report that not a drop of water has managed to get into the cabin. The roof has been up & down quite a bit already. The heater works well to keep the front seat occupants warm on frosty mornings with the top down but it can get a bit chilly in the back. I do find the heated front seats a bit strange as the centre gets hot but the side supports stay cold which is slightly uncomfortable. Contrary to popular myth it is big enough for 4 adults as long as they are no all over 6ft like me. Rule of thumb, I have found, is that the front & back seat passenger on the same side should not really have a combined height of more than about 11ft 8in for comfort. I find the back seat with two over 6 footers in is still quite comfy (with shorter people in the front) & there is more head room in the back than my Vectra hatch! You can also get in & out of the back seat while the driver is still sitting & the roof up. Our 130 dci auto gives good if not spectacular acceleration & currently about 38mpg in mixed use. I’ve seen figures in the 50s on the computer traveling on the motorway at a steady speed (70) & good A roads but tends to get knocked down again by the slow crawl in traffic, which is to be expected I suppose. Handling, brakes etc are good bearing in mind the torsional stiffness of the roof is missing & it does tend to rattle a bit but not unduly for this type of car. Definitely more of a cruiser than a sports car; but hey, who wants to go fast with the top down anyway? BEWARE. The auto diesel model service interval is only 9000 miles & not the 12000 as per the manual & 18000 for the petrol models. Ok if you want to leave it on the drive but a pain if you want to drive it a lot (which you will). The way we are going it will need servicing every 6 months!
