Peugeot Boxer 2008

This motorhome has broke down 5 times since we got it new, the first time at 700 miles on way from Calais to the South of France; 1 night recovery yard, 1 night hotel. Broke down again on way home; 1 night in recovery yard. 2009 broke down in France again 3 nights in hotel. Now on the fifth breakdown, it’s been in the Peugeot garage for 3 weeks waiting for a part from Argentina but they cannot give a date.

2nd owner and van has only travelled 3000 mile. I have noted when reversing it judders on the flat but when I have to reverse out of my drive it judders much more. This has been reported to my local dealer who reply it meets all the criterior and I need to apply more engine revs, to which I reply this makes it worse; 1). It will burn the clutch out 2). It’s impossible to reverse at speed. I am on my forth visit for this and another fault with the clutch pedal creaking, which they report as inside the clutch master. Does any one know how I should aproach this problem?

Bought my eldis firestorm 180 on a Peugoet boxer 2.2 HDi in Sept 2008 not only was the motorhome part designed and built by the Flintstones but the Peugoet chassis cab must have been done by them as well. It has been in the local agents twice for them too listen to what in my opinion was a noisy gearbox and juddery clutch. Their reply was normal for this vehicle. Got on to customer services next the dealer has it back gearbox out and bearings replaced also a new clutch. After 3 weeks got said vehicle back gearbox noise was louder and the clutch is not much better. It apparently they have major problems. I really wish I had looked on the internet before wasting my money on this awful vehicle. It was bought on the strength of the earlier model which I had for 12 years from new with no problems at all. How can a firm of Peogeot’s stand produce a pile of rubbish like this after years of brilliance?

Pile of c**p. Windows and cooker all rattle, the noise drives you potty. I tried to stop the vibration but no luck. I saved hard to buy this vehicle and I feel angry to have such a pile of c**p .

I do not expect clutch judder on a new vehicle, in first and reverse gears. My vehicle as had all the "mods" but I still dare not reverse it uphill. Very poor show Peugeot.

Peugeot Boxer Motorhome. 2008

I have been waiting to replace my 2004 Peugeot Autocruise 2ltr HDi Mk2 Motorhome, for a new Peugeot 250x Autocruise Motorhome since 2006. Because of the water entry problems under the bonnet rusting all engine components, still not fixed with the various covers and replacement front windscreen rubbers fitted. Now problems with clutch judder and gearbox breaking up - there is no way I shall spend nearly £40k on a replacement motorhome, although I want to buy a new one and have the cash waiting. Perhaps I should now look at Ford etc.... Regards Terry Hart
