This my second SW - my first was a Mark 1 and ate tyres, flywheels and discs, although it never actually let us down. My family loved the glass roof, the comfortable seats and the versatility, and so took a chance on the Mark 2, having believed the dealer’s reliability improvements hype. So far so good, because at 6,000 miles, the car’s had no faults at all. The Mark 2 feels a very different car - less road noise, better build (and equipment) and handling - probably because of the lighter engine. The 16 valve diesel engine is superb - smooth, quiet and with a beautifully integrated turbocharger - no lag at all (if you really want turbo lag, try a Skoda Roomster!). To my mind, the 308Sw’s one of the best looking cars on the road (much nicer than the gawky 308SW). Fuel consumption is around 42mpg overall, although I believe that diesels can take thousands of miles to fully bed in - that’s 20% better than our old 2.0HDi 110
