EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION BUYING SECONDHAND: Loved the car until the clutch slip started. When you can’t control power on a motorway or while overtaking it is a clear safety issue and I cannot comprehend how this car is not subject to a manufacturer recall. I’m second owner, 1 month out of warranty, and armed my dealer with the reviews on this site, but just had to give Swindon Motor Park £1500 to get my car back with clutch replaced. This was their verdict: "On a visual inspection of the clutch it does not show any oil contamination or excessive wear to the friction plate. The part number of the new clutch fitted to the vehicle is different to the original clutch which leads me to believe that a modified clutch has been supplied by Citroen, however I have no written evidence or confirmation from Citroen that this is the case. I have applied to Citroen personally for a goodwill contribution and they have declined on the basis that "as you are not the original owner we cannot be certain of the vehicle’s history".

I bought my c-crosser May 2009 and I love it. Reading all the reviews has been interesting as I have just had to take it back to Citroen with clutch slip in 5th & 6th gear. Also burning smell from passenger seat with heated seat on high. My c crosser has 19k, I must say my dealer has been very good, West Rd Wingrove Citroen, he has expressed concern and just waiting for the go-ahead to do job under warranty. Hopefully the car will be put right as we don’t do much mileage, no towing ect. I cannot see it as wear and tear but interesting about the oil leak. Will let you know how it goes. I’ve had many Citroen’s with no complaints hopefully this has not put me off buying another.

I write as I approach the end of a 2 year lease (through Lings, very good). I have covered very near all my allowed 50k miles, have changed the front tyres once and had it serviced every 12.5 k miles. It has been brilliant. Averaged 35 mpg over the 2 years used the additional 2 seats a good few times, Loved the Sat nav, music system and reversing camera. Will miss them in a week when it is picked up. Enjoyed a bit of exclusivity on the road, and every passenger remarks on how nice a car it is. Getting a new C5 delivered Monday (dont need he 7 seats and hope its as godd and reliable as the Crosser has been.

Changed to a Citroen C Crosser, what do you say my previous 185 bhp Volvo V70 D5 was going to be very hard to beat towing the latest Swift Challenger 530. The new C Crosser is a gem with the large mirrors and high driving position very good seating more room in the rear seats toO, economy is good . The power delivery is constant at all levels and very sure footed, excellent take off with the caravan on steep hills. A 4X4 that drives like a car with good acceleration very smooth engine. It is really a Mitsubishi Outlander with a Citroen engine a very good mix. The 2010 Outlander is now going to be fitted with this engine as it is more powerful and quieter than the VW engine. I am impressed it has a green 5 star rating on What Tow Car with this caravan. Reading the other reviews no sign of any clutch slip towing a big caravan at 14,000 miles on the clock and also a big 4 wheel trailer at other times.

I have read the feedback re clutch slip on this site and can tell you that I also had the same problem. I bought the car when it was 6 mths old (ex demo) from Citroen dealer in Bristol, took car back with problem and was told they could not find any fault. I have to admit it was only in 5th/6th gear and usually when picking up speed on approach ramp to motorway. Eventually after 18 months prob got much worse so I took it to another Citroen Service garage in Bristol and they confirmed the fault, from there they spoke to Ciroen warranty (France) who then said the clutch was not covered because I had more than 12,000 miles on clock. Citroen UK however said if I wanted the clutch replaced they would provide clutch FOC but I would have to pay the labour cost (£560.00) Not happy but no choice. Had it done and all ok now. Car is generally everything I want and very good but still very bitter towards Citroen.

Hi Folks. This was the car for us. We were all test-driven out and basically the C-crosser won hands down. Not only have I a Crosser 07 sat in a garage awaiting a decision from the Financial Ombudsman (I handed it back to the finance company after clutch and gearbox probs), I supidily went and bought another one, 08 model this time and guess what, clutch, clutch, clutch...arrgh!!!! The stress and the money that these vehicles have cost me. This surely, is an inherent problem? Our local Inverness Citroen Dealer at the time were totally useless. But have since found a wonderful Citroen garage at Forres. The 80 mile round trip is certainally worth it just for the customer care. I also have to say that my daughter’s Citroen AX (N reg) is more reliable than 2 Citroen C Crosser’s put together. We also own a Citroen Relay van since new and just about to buy another Citroen XLWB Relay to convert to a motorhome. Perhaps we need to think out the box a bit!??!!@@

Bought from new 2008, all was well to begin with, then the gear box cables suddenly went which meant I couldn’t get from 5th gear without giving the stick a whack, this was covered under guarantee luckily. Now the clutch has started slipping and I have been told by my dealer this will not be covered as it is down to natural wear and tear!! With only 16,000 miles on the clock and having never driven the car off road and have nevered pulled a trailer or the likes I find it very hard to swallow! The estimated bill for repair is over £1000! Thanks Citroen... never again on my drive mate!
