Audi A4 Avant 2.0 tdi multitronic 2008

Not a quality car. This 57 plate 2.0 tdi mulitronic has been back several times for steering noises, one of which should have been a factory recall. A new rack and other parts and it is still not right. The mulitronic is great in manual mode but has a real problem deciding which gear to hold when cold and really warm (software?). A loan car had the same problem. The tdi is not as refined as a 3 series and not as economical. The S line ride is a bone shaker so go for the SE if you must. I hope the new A4 is better.

Owned BMW for years, and this new car is a revelation in terms of poise, understated class, refinement and economy. A key point is as an Audi driver I do not get the usual negative stigma associated with owning the BMW product and other drivers appear to not show the the same level of resentment. The service levels also exceed that of BMW’s take it or leave it attitude. All in all after one months feedback - a class car at a great price given the size.
