BMW Z4 M Coupe 2007

I drove a Z4 M in Germany for 12 months. This allowed me to both run the car in properly and then drive the car at the speeds for which it was designed. I had owned an M6 the year before but found the Z4 even more exhilarating! The road holding was superb even in the wet (Michelin tyres), acceleration vivid and the comfort was total. Highs - although governed at 155 mph, I could achieve just short of 170 and the sensation of power changing down and accelerating hard, which caused the back end to drop about 4 inches! Lows - the small boot was one, 23mpg was the only other, but then I was running at very high speeds on the autobahns and, with no weight over the back wheels, not too clever on ice or snow (I used to drive around in the winter with a large bag of salt in the boot. I have recently retired and plan to buy a good second hand M to refurbish, although I’ve not yet discussed this with my wife! The best car I have ever owned; total fun but practical.
