Vauxhall Signum 1.9 cdti (150) Design 2006

4 star review

A very nice car to drive with plenty of room inside. It looks good, but as with most modern cars it has common faults. The Duel Mass flywheel’s going (most powerful diesels have DMF now), the spring’s snapping, the EGR valve is going, but taking all this in to consideration this is one of the best cars I have had; the 150BHP is nippy and very good on motorways. I would recommend.

Vauxhall Signum 2.8 Turbo Elite 2006

3 star review

Having bought the car 18 months ago whilst it had 23,000 miles on the clock (now 29 k), I have been impressed by its looks, comfort and power. However, in the last 18 months it has spent nearly as much time on the back of a recovery truck as on the road. The 6 speed auto box failed after 26K and its replacement is also on its last legs. Vauxhall know a about these issues but frankly don’t give a damn. The fault appears to be an oil cooler in the radiator allowing water to mix with the transmission fluid hence killing the auto box. Obviously a major design fault. In all other respects the car is excellent.

Vauxhall Signum CDTI 150 Design 2006

4 star review

Needed a second car to cover family duties and motorway commute. I went for a facelift CDTI Design with 44k on the clock. The car is great inside with half leather sports seats, which are great for long trips and give good support. The car is nice to drive and the CDTI engine is a good match for the cars size. On the Motorway the car see’s around 52mpg. Only had the car a month but love it. I had a 2006 Renault Megane estate as my second car before and I hated it. This is far, far better in all respects. Only down side is I had to fit a new alternator after 2k of ownership.

Vauxhall Signum Elite 150ps 2006

5 star review

I purchased my ’56 plate Signum from a Vauxhall dealer with @ 11k miles on the clock, and now 3 years later I have done 110,000 miles. It has been a brilliant car, and is a fantastic, effortless motorway cruiser. My version has the 6 spd automatic, and hovering just under 2,000 revs at 80ish mph (where this speed allows of course) makes for a quiet, comfortable cruiser. The on board computer tells me that in the last 14k miles, I have AVERAGED 41.7mpg. OK the bulk of that is on the motorway, but nevertheless very good. Definitley highly rate this vehicle.

Vauxhall Signum 2.2 Direct Design Auto 2006

3 star review

Needed an Auto and bought this very cheap (under 5K)in auctions with 65K on clock. Felt and looked like a new car.The Design in 2006 has Sports suspension on 17" wheels. This car just cant cope with bumps around town or A roads and they unsettle the whole car. It does corner very flat though with no roll. The 1/2 leather seats seem more spacious and comfortable than a vectra Sri I tested and the ride smoother and less bumpy. Its quite hushed up front with all the noise coming from the rear. No rear air vents for passengers is surprising as the Vectra has them?on this spec. The sliding rear seats give limousine leg room but the boot is the equivalent of an Audi A4 estate (compact). Window lift buttons are a fiddle and you cant rest arm on drivers door arm rest as it slopes? I still hate the electronic indicator stalk. The auto box is easy to confuse at times -when you try to accelerate hard it starts changing down and actually slows you up. The tiptronic function is counter intuitive so is just left in Auto. Only 25 mpg general driving (but its always trying to rev at 2400) but 34mpg at 75ish on motorway (still revving at 2400 in 5th). Overall a pretty good car but wish I had the diesel for the economy.

Vauxhall Signum 2.8 V6 Turbo 2006

5 star review

Having previously owned two Omega’s, the last being an MV6, I decided that I would stick with Vauxhall, but wanted something a bit different. As soon as I got into the Signum for the test drive I realised it was a bit of a tardis, and was much bigger than expected, which is good when 3 of the family are over 6ft. The 2.8 V6 Turbo charged engine kicked into life with enough of a growl to get it noticed, but without drawing any unwanted attention. When you put your foot down you realise that you really do have a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Oh, I nearly forgot to mention, it’s really comfortable too. All in all it’s a really good car with enough room for the family, and enough power for the boy racer that’s hidden in all 40 something men!!
