I was very happy with this car and had no problems with it when I bought it. I loved the sliding doors, which made it much easier to get my two children into the car. I had an accident in the car a few days ago when I had to do an emergency stop and the car behind slammed into the back of me, the doors of the car at this point stopped working and I was unable to get myself and my children out of the car. Luckily there was a man who stopped to help and he was able to force the door open, but even he found the door incredibly difficult and heavy to open! I won’t be keeping the car once it has been fixed as I don’t feel safe in the car.

Had the car only 3 months before written-off by speeding motorist coming in opposite direction. Loved it. I wanted something "quirky" and it fitted the bill. Excellent mpg if driven with a light foot - over 60 to the gallon! Problems: like many people I had a temporary issue with a door not functioning. It wouldn’t open or close unless I heaved it manually. I resolved this my spraying all contacts and runners etc with a water dispersing lubricant. I also wiped the contacts and Hey-Presto working doors. The local Puegeot garage said that problem doors brought to them were frequently just an issue of needing spraying as I had done. I noticed in a few reviews that people had probs with doors not opening or closing in very cold weather. I noticed when the doors were frozen and I had to break the ice with a heave that the handle stayed in the open position because of ice build-up. This meant that when I tried to close the door with remote or with switch that it immediately opened again. Simple solution was to spay around the handle mechanism to unfreeze it and disperse all water. With the mechanism released it worked beautifully. I’ll miss the little car but I’ve now had the "quirky phase" and time to move on. Having said that, if it came as a five door and with a bigger engine then I’d have one.

My car is a Peugeot 1007 1.4l sport "version 3" it is the latest version made by Peugeot!. Great "little" car with a very good behaviour on the city roads and also on highways too. My height is 1m 90cm and is a perfect car for me because I have an easy access in. No problem at all since ’07. Only 74 hp but with the ecu reprogrammed you can get 10-15 hp plus and it’s cheap. Treating the doors with a grease spray or something, but not WD40, will keep them working quietly and smooth and watertight!

Bought the car From Arnold Clark it was 4 years old, but only 12,000 miles. I had problems with door in first week, garage repaired, after only 1 or 2 weeks, the esp not function message came on. The garage said that they had fixed the glitch, but to my alarm, while holidaying in the highlands, the esp not functioning and abs not functioning message comes on at the same time all the dials including the speedo do not work, not good while driving on a motorway. We have taken it back to Arnold Clark who cannot find out what is wrong. We paid for Arnold Clark’s Autocare warranty, but they keep saying it might cost to repair. I don’t think Arnold Clark’s customer service is as good as they think, the word not fit for purpose will be ringing in their ears if they can’t fix this problem.

Since we bought this car, we have problems :( It’s very cute car, very special and different. We loved it on first sight. And then he came. First, problems with doors. No matter what temp is in the air, there were problems, with strange noise. Dealer fix it. Then problem with accumulator, only after 2 years. Car is in garage and we drive it rarely, because we also have a 307 (year 2002) which its perfect. We had to change accumulator and there was some problem with alternator. So, we change accumulator which our dealer advised but there was still problem with alternator; their conclusion was that we drive slow (?!?). Problem disappear by itself. Again problem with doors (several times, I don’t remember all of them). Then problem with automatic gears - it was unable to change into reverse. Dealer change some small thing on gear (but it was expensive). After 5 months (present time) we have new problem - again with gear. When I want to change into speed 4, it starts choking and it changes by itself into neutral with message on displey "Automatic gear fault". I turn off my car and then only after 2-3 minutes, I can turn it on. Now, for 2 days, our dealer is trying to fix it (but they don’t know what is realy the problem), they said they need to call our capital city and main Peugeot in Croatia but this model of car was very short time on market in our country so I think there is small number of these models in Croatia :( Fixing problems cost more than 1000?. So, my final opinion is that 1007 is very cute city car (with very practical way of opening doors) with too many problems (undeveloped way of opening doors). I’m very sad...

80k on the clock, have had from new. Occasional door problems as covered, WD40 on runs, check mechanism on base at rear of door - complete, or stuck. Usually reset by manually moving door to rearmost position and listen to mechanism resetting. Recently mysterious messages appear on drivers information panel falsely, and a couple of times power assist steering has gone off. These odd events have often been reset by stopping and restarting the engine. Four times now the car has not restarted - ignition lights appear but no connection to starter motor. Results; new alternator, new battery, two new starter motors. The dealer won’t properly investigate what I believe is simply a glitch in the electronic control. Last starter motor two weeks old and useless. I believe power is being wrongly directed by all this wonderful Electronics!

Very nice little car until the passenger door decided to not work via fob or switch. It opens manually but I bought the car so that I had the joys of an electric door!! Also recently after being stuck in traffic for 3 hours, sometimes when changing gear the engine massively over revs! I loved it when I first got it but now it’s a nightmare!

I bought my Peugeot 1007 about 5 months ago. I have had trouble with the sliding doors when temperature is below 0 degrees, and I will try the tips mentioned in all these helpful reviews. Apart from that, I like it, but when you can’t shut the door in the ice and snow, all the other good features are worthless. Does anybody know if is possible to completely disconnect the electrics, so that the doors are manually operated only? This won’t help many of you, but I could cope with that! Thank you.

I got the 1007 from Hardies at Halbeath, Dunfermline on mobility. When I inquired about the doors the sales man said; OH WE HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THE DOORS. So I took his word for it and took it. Well, I only had it a week or so and the doors started working on there own, even when moving. The petrol and speedometer weren’t showing anything... so back it went. In and out it went for months and every time I got it back from Hardies I was assured by the service manager it was OK. One day my 3 year old grand son was climbing in the car and the door started to close; my grandson had his hands on the rail which the door moves on. I had to push the door back or he would have lost his finger. Eventually it came to a point when I got out of the car and the door closed trapping my hand. I went right back to the dealer and told them what had happened and to fix it or keep it. OK... we will fix it: 2 days later I got it back. Its OK now, the mechanic is sure its OK. So off I went happy. It was Mothers’ Day and we went to Colne near Preston to see the kids. When we got there the doors wouldn’t open and after forcing them open they wouldn’t close. That was it. I phoned mobility and now I have taken legal action against the dealer and Peugeot. Mobility insurance have taken the case on. So I would advise anyone with the same problem to contact Mobility insurance and claim your benefit back. Don’t just accept it.

Bought for ease access for disabled driver. Left door opens even when the car is locked. When you shut it it just opens again. This has happened when parked and unattended. It has happened while setting off with a passenger - very dangerous. No warranty so paid £350 for new lock mechanism which has not fixed it.

I bought this car 1 year ago, reason - easy to get in and out of. The first couple of weeks I had trouble with the doors opening on their own. I found the cure for this problem was to clean all the door contacts with lighter fluid, also clean any crud off the bottom rail where the roller runs. If you have trouble with the doors its best to reset them, it tells you how to do this in the handbook (its easy). I found the ride harsh and bumpy, the tyres fitted by Peugeot were near the wear bar so I had a set of Toyo’s fitted - WOW what a difference the car is quiet, smooth, holds the road much better, and seems to go better. If I drive it well it will do well over 50mpg, if I drive it enthusiastically the mpg does drop. I found if overtaking it’s best to select manual gearchange because if it’s in auto and you put your foot down it suffers from a flat spot while it tries to change gear which can be quite frightening. Also, if I want to drive enthusiastically I find it best to select manual, all in all I find my 1007 a cracking little car and I’m pleased I bought it.

My passenger door has not worked properly since I bought it second hand 2 years ago but as I did not use it much then it didn’t really matter. However, it has now stopped opening electronically completely and sometimes locks and will not open manually. I have taken it into my local dealer who has had it a since last Thursday. He has put a new motor in it which blew something else which I have had to pay for the bill - so far is about £350. He said that its because it hasn’t been used enough, would it have been caused by over use if I had said we were always using it? Having read the other reviews I think this is a fault that should be taken up by Peugeot. I shall be speaking to Trading Standards about this.

In 20 years of owning cars I have never experienced anything like this! The electronic doors on my car are unreliable, unpredictable and dangerous; they have a mind of their own and when they decide to close of their accord nothing will stop them. One one occasion they closed unexpectedly on my daughter as she attempted to enter the car. She tried to push the door back but it would not stop, she propelled herself backwards out of the car but the door caught her foot. Fortunately her lace was not tied and she was able to slip her foot out of the shoe. The door closed on top of the shoe and crushed it. We had a lucky escape it could have been a very different story. I took delivery of the car yesterday after it being with the Dealer for 16 days to repair the doors, (second time to Dealer with same fault). I drove it home, exited the car and the driver’s door failed; it jammed half way closed. I phone the Peugeot Dealer, they told me they could do nothing until next Tuesday. I was in a very distressed state and stressed that I was due to collect my child and now had no transport. I made the dealership aware that it was raining and the interior of my car was being soaked, I conveyed my deep concern that the car would be vulnerable to theft if it lay open for four days. None of this made any difference. After several communications they agreed to take responsibility for any damage caused if I manually forced the door shut. I tried to open the car this morning and neither of the doors would operate, I now have no access to the vehicle. I contacted the Dealer Principle of the Peugeot Dealership to inform him of this new development and he told me to ’f*** off’ and slammed the phone down. Luckily I recorded the conversation and intend to pass it to Peugeot UK. Other problems include; bubbling paintwork at the back of the car, paintwork peeled off the exterior runners and the vinyl eroded on both doors. The car is still under Manufacturer’s Warranty, in addition to this I purchased extended warranty when I bought the vehicle. I am the first owner of the car, prior to this it was a demonstrator. In conclusion I would not advise anyone to even consider purchasing this vehicle.

Electrical Problems. My Father has a 1007 which since he as owned and has had problems, first the ABS light came on, returned to local garage and main dealer could not find the problem and ABS was working fine they say. Second, door problem on N/s bouncing open when closing. Now lack of power @ ESP light flashing, car will not go over 60mph. Jerks when pulling off from junctions and hates hills, and engine management light on. Returned to local garage and main dealer both unable to find problems ?? Anyone else had these problems? If so please email me direct, its a great little car prefect for my parents, but c**p at moment. john.carpy@btopenworld.com

I have had my 1007 for almost a year now and generally find it a great little car with plenty of room inside for the driver and passenger, there is not so much room in the rear seats but then again it is only a super mini. There is however a big problem with the sliding doors which tend to have a mind of their own and close on their own accord, this is potentially a safety problem. It has been into the Peugeot dealer once already and the problem still exists, I am returning it to the garage for the second time and hopefully these problems will be solved before my warranty runs out in a few months. I know that if these problem persist after the warranty runs out I will be looking at a very costly bill to sort things out myself. I have read the reviews and the problems I have are not unique. This does seem to be a design fault.

I bought my 1007 three months ago because of the excellent fuel economy and 5 star crash rating. It is small but Tardis-like on the inside. The 2nd hand price was low (£6.2K) for a car with 15K on the clock and balance of 18 months manufacturers warranty. It is also loaded with extras; ESP, climate control, electric sunroof, automatic lights, windscreen wipers, etc. It’s slower than my last car (a Merc 220cdi), but not as slow in respect of real world motoring as some of the professional reviewers suggest. Besides, I’m most interested in getting from a-b in comfort and safety with the least possible expense, moreover it feels good driving a ’green car’. Don’t be put off by the negative reviews. If you can live with being a bit ’different’ you’ll get a lot of used car for your money.

The pug was bought as part exchange at the local dealer. Liked the quirky looks and ,with the diesel costs on the rise , the claimed 72.3 mpg was the straw that broke the camels back. After 3 months of ownership I’m still trying to get the mpg above the magical 70. When thrashed it returns 55 and when driven frugally 64mpg. As it is still under warranty the local Peugeot dealer has (with no quibble at all) replaced the matt black covering on the upper doors and the CD player as it skips when driving down slightly bumpy roads. The electric doors have so far been no trouble and the driving position for a 6ft 4 bloke ,comfy. I took it on a 450 mile drive last month and the seats are barely adequate as the zips for the changeable covers tend to dig into your butt. ABS is a godsend in such a short wheelbase car and never attempt to turn off the ESP as it will bite you. Having never had auto lights and windscreen wipers I can say that I can live with them but wouldn’t pay for the extras. Overall a nice above the average super mini but don’t expect electrifying performance as its too heavy!

Nice, but a bad 2-tronic gearbox which is a pity as with a good gearbox it would be a nice city car.

My brother bought the 1007 sport with 2 tronic transmissions because of the sliding doors. He is disabled and found it was easier to get in. Apart from the doors we both think the car is a nightmare especially the transmission which, because of the ’dead spots’, is downright dangerous. Performance is poor and fuel consumption far too high. Also there are too many blind spots. I’m not surprised that there are very few of these models on the roads. The last one I saw was broken down! The driver’s sliding door jammed one day fortunately whilst at the dealer being serviced. We have also had total transmission failure for several minutes.
