I bought my 2.0 Diesel Sport Estate with 82,000 miles on the clock around a year ago, it’s now done 103,000 miles so I’m averaging 25k a year. It’s had a few problems, a battery, brake pads, power steering pump but overall I’m really pleased with it. Being based on the Mondeo, repairs and servicing are simple and relatively cheap. The car is a pleasure to drive, has great performance for a diesel and is comfortable and quiet. The estate has a good loading area with plenty of room. All in all a great car, which will be replaced only by a newer one.

Jaguar X-Type Estate 2.2 diesel Estate 2006

Great car and without problems. Passengers new to the car love the interior. Has adequate power, smoothness and economy, 42.7mpg (over 40k miles) and up to 50mpg on long continental runs. Wife complains that passenger seat pinches, she now has a cushion and yearns for the big comfy seats on the family Volvo. Classy image and best of all it starts and I never worry about reliability. Great second hand buy (I mean it’s a Mondeo in a frock so servicing is not out of the ordinary). Watch for wear on inner front wheel tyres.

Jaguar X-Type Estate 2.5 AWD 2006

I was surprised at how refined the car sounds and how well it drives. It’s extremely smooth and easily powerful enough for motorway driving. It is spacious enough for me which is also a surprise as I am 6’ 7" and 18 stone and very comfortable to drive. One tiny niggle, turning on the heated rear windscreen knocks out radio reception somewhat, but overall an excellent car.
