Peugeot 206 SW 1.4 HDI 2005

5 star review

I’ve become a Peugeot fan having previously owned a 406 saloon and 406 estate and now a 206 SW HDI. This 206 had done 88,000 miles when I bought it. It is economical in the extreme, regularly doing well over 600 miles to the tank of 50 litres. Tax is £35 year and insurance bottom rate. I have just changed the cam belt without any difficulty except the accessory belt tensioner which is frankly dangerous to reload as one cannot turn it in the car without maybe some special tool. Don’t believe the Haynes manual about turning it with an open spanner. When the pin is inserted to hold the tension whilst the belt is relocated you will be lucky to get it out again. I had to grind the thread off a 5mm bolt to fit the holes and fit a nut and washer to withdraw the bolt after locating the belt. I have other tips too if anyone wants to have a go.
