Bought my 1007 1.6 Sport 2-tronic in April 2011 with 33,000 miles showing from a dealer. After 13 days I needed a new clutch activator and had to take it to a Peugeot dealer as no one else would touch it, which cost me over £800! I’ve owned it now for nearly 3 months and I have to say apart from the gear select problem, it is now running nicely. No problems with the doors but won’t close if you park 2 wheels on the kerb. I must say the full length panoramic roof makes it even more enjoyable. Love it!

Bought mine with 30,000 on the clock in September 2010. Needed something small, economical with good mpg and road tax, with the added benefit of easy access (I have arthritis). Having been warned about the electrical problems a lot are plagued with, I took out a 2-year extended warranty. I had one problem with the door needing resetting, but other than that I’ve had no problems with the electrics so far. Nice, economical ride, nippy, and I have had no problems with the electrics in freezing weather even though the car lives outside in the worst of a Scottish winter. Very happy with it so far.

Enjoyed reading all the reports and can sympathise with those experiencing faults. My 1007 was bought with 6000 miles on the clock and except for the regulation door problems early on (cured when Peugeot supplied a release note explaining a simple cure) have had enjoyable driving. 60+ mpg in the Summer lower in Winter. But after a round trip of 410 miles to the Isle of Mull at Easter 2011 experienced problem with power steering failure, not a happy moment going round the Ardullie roundabout at the end of the Cromarty bridge. Inspection, diagnostic check and a new starter motor left me with a bill for £550.00 Peugeot dealer’s prices are horrendous, at 44000 miles now on the clock it will be local garages from now on. But overall the car is great driven with respect, but don’t expect super mini performance, it is ideal for me at 81 and having driven for over 60 years this is the most comfortable car over long distances that I have ever owned, except for a Reliant Scimitar.

There are too many negative reviews for the 1007 as I own this car and I love it. I have never had any problems with the electric sliding doors, I can only really think of benefits to them, the seats are extremely comfy and supportive, the stereo is great and the speakers are powerful and most importantly the car is extremely safe and I feel really happy travelling at 70mph on the motorway. The 2-tronic gearbox is acceptable, I find it very smooth on roads over 50mph and I cannot agree with reviews that it does not pick up quickly, one just has to drive a little more relaxed. My 1007 is in tacoma yellow which is a lovely bright happy colour. It is a super used buy as my 05 plate was only £3995 from a main Peugeot dealer with 9,000 miles on the clock (and I know you can buy 05 plate 1007 from £2500). It is very well kitted out for the money with climate control, alloys, 7 airbags all as standard. I am sorry they have stopped making the 1007 as in my opinion it is a great car. Safety has got to be your main concern when looking to buy a car and the 1007 scored fantastically well in the NCAP tests and it really does represent a very safe car for a very good price.

I too had a door problem looked on the computer for faults and found that the door problem was the same as mine. I found out that at the back of the door there is a small u shaped clip, which was broken. I then had to tell my dealer as they never found it. Since then its been ok not opening and closing on its own. Sadly it now doesn’t open with the remote and also has a gearbox problem. I need to get rid of this car, which I did love at first. Hope this helps.

Hi to all. Well after four years of virtual trouble free ownership of what I considered a great little car with execptional MPG, always 60+ returns, I am now suffering an horrendous amount of faults, all appearing just before an MOT (NCT in Ireland). Passenger door has failed completey, won’t open with pully or close, just beeps all the time; ABS/EPS warning light comes on; windscreen washers not working. All enought to fail a test in it’s own right let alone all together. Very pi**ed off, and now living on disability. I’ll get a garage to look at dust on wheel sensors as stated above by someone, any other advice would be appreciated.

Hi, I bought my car just over a month ago because I liked its looks and it was cheap as it was an ex-company car with believe it or not 89,000 miles on the clock. I got a 1 year warranty with it and got the price down to £2,400 so took it. So far I have not really had any door problems but the tensioner for the alternater belt went costing £90 and 2 weeks ago a gearbox failure came up on the display. On investigation at my garage the clutch was found to be broke into pieces. I was really p*ssed off as the warranty company said it was due to wear. I paid £300 to replace the clutch. I thought the problems were over but yesterday whilst driving home the gearbox failure warning came on again and the car would not move for a minute or so, but then started to work again. Has anyone experienced these problems before and do you know the cause?

I bought the car from Arnorld Clark and as soon as I drove it away I was having problems with the passenger door opening and closing. It would be parked in the street and the door would open even when I locked it. But the worst problem is when I was driving and stopped at traffic lights; the left door opened of its own accord even though the car was locked. Its been a nightmare.

Because I am disabled I chose the 2007. Peugeot owned the car for the first 18 months (did 10,500 miles) and I have owned it since - 2 years 6 months (have done 8,500 miles). I have had many problems with the doors but once it was out of its warranty period a year ago I have waited for each incident and let it go as it usually rights itself overnight. However, I now have a more serious problem. The screen in the car shows "ABS/ESP not functioning". I took it to the local dealer where I bought the car and was told it was a fauly ABS pump and would cost £1,150. I picked myself up from the floor and said I did not think this was fair as the car had only done 19,000 miles and they said they would contact Peugeot who said they could not help as the problem "did not fit their criteria". As the car was almost 4 years old the MOT was due so I had the work done and had to pay up front, this was their rule I was told. I fortunately paid on my credit card. I went to collect the car from the garage but the new pump replacement had failed to correct the problem, the screen was still showing the same fault. The service manager said they would have to send for another pump as the new one must be faulty??? I have not had the new pump fitted and the car is 4 years old today. I am paying to have the car examined by an electronics expert as I have been told by several independant mechanics that they do not think that the fault can have been the pump in the first place and I have paid £1500 for a different fault that could be put right much more cheaply. Apart from its annoying faults I like the car but I dont think I can afford it. I had Hyundai’s previously and kept the last one for 6 years; they never ever had a single fault.

This is the first small car I have ever had & purchased it as my wife has mobility problems. Found it surprisingly good - handles well & is quite lively if you keep the revs above 4000. Like everybody, had initial problems with doors which supplying dealer (Arnold Clark) didn’t have a clue how to fix. However, most problems can be sorted simply by greasing the locating plugs and sockets which are located at both the font and rear of the doors. They have now been trouble free for over two years! Problems can also occur if the exterior handle is used to open the door. If it is not pushed fully forward again after use the door will then fail to stay shut.

I have just bought the Peugeot 1007. Straight away, on the 2nd day, I had problems with the left door. I phoned up my dealer and they have booked it in - the only problem is that even when I have locked it it seems to open up. This is a safety issue as twice the door was left open in the street. Otherwise the car is a great drive but I will be speaking to my dealer about the mechanical faults on the door as I only took out a warranty for a year.

From time to time, especially when temperature gets below 0, I’ve got a problem with the sliding door - I can open it but it wont close. It just bounces and opens again. I let it run for 10 - 20 minutes until it gets hot inside and it solves the problem each time. About warranty issues - check with somebody who knows something about warranty’s because in my country, if they repair something on your car, the warranty for that part starts to run from the beginning. If you have a problem with opening the doors - bouncing and coming right back at you - this could be an issue - there is a small switch that doors hit when they are fully open. Its located at the and of the bottom rail. Over it is a slightly curved piece of plastic that in my case was broken and the door didn’t hit the "off" switch. Hope this helps.
