Renault Megane Sport Tourer 2005

I have a 55 plate Renault Megane sports tourer with 38,000 miles on the clock. I bought it 2 years ago with 19,000 miles on the clock. We have had nothing but problems with it since. It’s been serviced regularly and looked after, but now things seem to be going wrong. The cam belt needed changing, the head gasket went, the gear box got replaced and now the engine is juddering causing the whole car to shake violently with all the engine management lights coming on! I have paid 2 years finance on it and still have 2 years to pay! I cannot afford to get the car fixed and grudge paying for a car that is not in working order. I now question whether Renault knew that the car was not in the best of condition when they sold me it and why the previous owner traded it in at 19000 miles. Stay clear of this make and model!

A superb compromise car combining reasonable performance (among the best in its class), good economy (62mpg on long trips, 50mpg around town), very comfortable, very quiet, loads of carrying space, excellent access. Have now done over 80,000 miles and it has never let me down. So far, only items regarded as "consumables" have needed replacing. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasn’t for the following one irritating fault. It eats headlamp bulbs, and there is absolutely no point in carrying replacement bulbs because it has to go up on a ramp to have them replaced! It is a great pity that an almost perfect mid-range vehicle has been spoiled by this design fault.

Renault Megane Sport Tourer Dynamique 2005

I own a 55 reg with the 17" alloys and split tail gate. Having done 12,000 miles (it’s the wife car!) it has been very very good. Only one weird problem.... the door leaks water and it collects in the storage holder at the bottom. This same problem happens on my friends Megane. Very comfortable and an impressive list of standard features. More than a BMW! I can recommend this car without any hesitation. 5 out of 5!
