Having had our Navara serviced every 6 months or so, we had approximately 20 seconds worth of tapping then BANG!!! Now the engine strip and rebuild is about to cost us over £3000. Nissan - I used to love the D22 fantastic vehicle however am now very angry!!! And will never buy one again!! If this engine rebuild works (which lets face it at 3000 miles it blinking well should, it’d better not go again !!) I’m wondering if I should save my money and get rid of it for parts and buy something worth my time?!!

Good vehicle all round, except one thing..ABSOLUTELY S**T ENGINE. Can’t be trusted and keeps costing a fortune. I’ve had it four years and now at 80000 miles. The crank went at 69000 miles. Nissan said they don’t give trouble. I told local engineer about engine knocking, on the phone he told me its prob done 70000 miles and it will be the big end gone on number three or four; he was spot on. Luck? No just experience. I know of lots of similar storys so head gasket gone now. The Nissan is going and I wont be getting another until they upgrade the cranks. Too much power for too light a crank, bad design. What do I get instead that I can trust?
