Vauxhall Corsa Energy SE 1.0 2004

Bought this car from a Vauxhall dealer (Hartwell) in March 2010, with 21,500 miles on the clock and one previous owner. Just 2 months after I got it, things started to break, the steering became loose and unresponsive, also the horn stopped working. I took it back and they said steering rack had come loose. They tightened it, replaced horn buttons on the steering wheel and also found an oil leak which was leaking onto the breaks, it cost me nearly £150 just for them to tighten the steering rack. Then a couple of weeks later (now out of warranty) the steering came loose again. Took it back again and had a go at them so they fixed it again! And now the whole car creaks and bangs and doesn’t sound safe....then the suspension broke, one of the springs completely snapped. Now looking to sell it. Also fuel consumption is C**P! Not impressed!!

Vauxhall Corsa 1.0 Active 2004

I bought my Corsa 1.0 Active, 1 month ago from a main dealer. I test drove the car no problems but the day I bought the car home it started to sound like a tractor. I took it back to garage but they said there was nothing wrong with the car and told me to take it to a Vauxhall dealer to see if they could find a problem. Vauxhall said it was the timing chain, so had to take back to garage (luckily under warranty) and have a new timing chain. A week later driving on the M25 the engine light appeared, sensor fault, car still making terrible noise, revv’s on it own when idle at traffic lights or sitting in traffic. I just feel unsafe driving this car, the biggest mistake I have ever made.

I’ve had the car from new, done 70,000 miles in it and really can’t complain. Me and this car have been through some thrills and spills, one such spill involving being cut up and swerving into a house, no major issues, had an engine replacement after 2 months after the timing chain snapped but that was done quickly and painlessly. Never been religous with servicing, oil and filter change every now and then but still no problem. I’ve driven it hard from day 1 and all that’s to show is a few bumps and squeaks. The recalls were annoying (had 4 now) but they don’t cost anything. Haven’t ever thought about replacing it ’cos as they say, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it. Fair enough the seats aren’t sofas, and the plastic’s a bit cheap and clacky, but the only people who complain about things like that are the people who seem to think they’ll get Rolls Royce workmanship at Vauxhall prices. For the money I paid for this car it’s been nothing but brilliant. I would definitely recommend one to anyone who has a realistic idea of what they’ll get for their money, but avoid the 1 litre as it’s the lumpiest engine in the world and 1.2 litre as it is a whiney little thing.

The biggest load of rubbish I have ever owned. Only 23000miles on clock yet Oil leaks from the engine, which garage cannot trace the reason for. It gives 38 mpg if you are lucky. Leaks 5 pints a month, burns 1 pint per 1000 miles. The clock refuses to work. The driver’s seat is difficult to move except when you are driving along, when it decides to move under its own power. I will never touch another Corsa, I have seen better rubbish at our local tip. I would have given it ’no stars’ but the lowest score is 1.

Vauxhall Corsa Corsa Twinport 2004

I bought this lovely little 1.0 12v Corsa Twinport for my Xmas present on 15 Dec 2008. Previously, I had a beloved old P reg Fiesta. It had blown up on the M42 motorway the week before (my fault, didn't service the poor car!!), so when the chance came up to buy a 2004 Corsa, I couldn't turn it down! I had an R reg diesel Corsa, a diesel dog, it was so slow, but a good ride; I part-exchanged it for the 04 Corsa. This little Corsa is a revelation, it drives like a dream, it is economical and cosy. The best features are the gorgeous alloy wheels, its brilliant tiny turning circle, its economical 1.0 12v engine, and low road tax. I couldn't believe the drive quality, the Corsa is a bit skitterish over rubbish road services and surprisingly very fast for a 1.0 litre. The drive quality is good and decent for such a small engine. The Corsa drove very well to central London and back in Feb 09, it drove like a dream. Even the Aston Martin DB9 Cabrio that tried to race me on the M1 past London couldn't beat my little Corsa!! Ha ha!! The only complaint is that it is quite a light car; it should be a little heavier to cope with the rubbish road surfaces. And it's got a bigger tank than the Fiesta, so it needs a service now. I like the Corsa. It has pas, e/w, c/l, gets admiring glances wherever I go. And its economical, I bought another car, a 1.0 Micra 2002 52 plate; it is a gorgeous little car, so the Corsa is up for sale, offers over £2200 please.

I would give it 0 but 1 is the lowest. This car is the WORST car I have ever owned and I have only owned 2. At 35,000 miles, a valve fell into the engine and was wrecked. This happened while going 60 mph in 5th gear. Vauxhall didn’t care because the car was 9 months out of warranty. This car was FULLY maintained at Vauxhall and as they don’t care, they build these cars to fall apart just as the warranty runs out. I would advise against ANY Vauxhall vehicle as they are badly built and their dealerships are the most unhelpful people you could ever meet. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

I just purchased my car on Thursday and it is a great drive but I do have problems with the front and back wipers. Apart from that there are no regrets. I wish I had purchased one sooner even though i had always loved my Volkswagen Polo.
