Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet 1.6 dynamique 2004

First venture into Renault. Love the car. Roof leaked on drivers side when first bought but on contacting Renault was advised to park facing downhill! (I was parked facing uphill on my drive.) Guess what? No leak since!! As the yanks say, ’Go figure’. Petrol is a little slow in 1600 format but it is quite a heavy car so would imagine 2000 would be much better. Rear n/s passenger window packed up via individual switch but works on ’all window’ switch. Not sure whether I would but another one. It’s a Renault after all. Always had Toyota so I’ve been spoilt with reliability!

Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet 1.6 petrol 2004

Just bought the missus an 04 plate 1.6 petrol cc,. Firstly, thanks to Jon Stevens, whose previous report was invaluable as I had the same problem with mine, with his report I knew how to fix it. The vehicle is running " lumpy" and takes a couple of attempts of button pushing to get it to "fire up", also the tick over is up and down... Luckily its still under warranty... Someone has mentioned it may be the coil pack , has anyone else had this problem and could they suggest a possible cure? Apart from that though the missus loves the motor and I must admit I love the look of the car.

I was unable to start the car with the button and the clutch depressed, only with the brake depressed. I trawled down to the dealer and they were unable to spot it, so I asked how much for them to keep it and they sort it out - £35 an hour and a days work. I trawled through the net and found an article with exactly the same fault but no answer on how to fix it. Just in case anybody else has this problem, look under the clutch pedal and there is a plug attached by wires that leads to the ignition circuit, inspect them carefully where they come out from the plug, I found that although mine appeared intact, one side was not, so you squeeze the sides of the plug and it comes out and bit from the wiring. Plugged it back in no problems since.

Renault Megane Coupe-Cabriolet Privilege 2004

I purchased this car in November 2007, after a few weeks I complained that the roof was leaking slightly. The garage I purchased it from, took it in, and after a week said it was fixed. They had adjusted the door. Next time it rained the passenger seat was sodden! The garage had it back, kept it for a month (while it waited for parts) and then said it was fixed. They had replaced all the door seals, and the rear windows (which apparently came as part of the door seal package). It does not leak any more, but the doors do not fit well either!! My only other complaint about the car is that it has no ’go’ and is very slow to get going. Otherwise I love it!!

I purchased this car last August with my partner- (Renault Ilford). He told me endless times not to go for a Renault especially a coupe cab - but this is the car I wanted and I did not listen!!! The car to me is very attractive but that is all what is going for it. I had endless problems - the handbrake needed to be replaced - and also the clutch (thank god I had warranty)!! Then it decided to completely cut out (4 times) when I was pulling out of a junction or roundabout (which nearly involved me and my baby in TWO accidents). After endless returns to Renault Ilford I had had enough!!!!! I then had to involve solicitors as I was not excepting anymore bulls*it from them. (I was literally ready to drive the car through their showroom). I got a complete refund and also out of pocket expenses. I would say never ever purchase one of these cars, unless you’re willing to put up with the endless problems which occur with these vehicles! I thought that this may have been a one off but looking and hearing reviews (bad ones) of these cars it just shows there are many more people like me who have parted with there well eared cash on a car they thought would be the best thing ever but turned out to be the worst and most of all the most time consuming mistake ever!!!!!!! Please be warned.
