A great car. Bought with 38k kms, now on its 80ish k with no problems whatsoever. Serviced once every 18 months. This is my second car and it is enjoyed greatly every time it’s driven. It’s not very fast, 1.6 version, but the fun is in the setup not the speed. Equally enjoyed in town or country and its looks are classic and modern at the same time. I can’t get enough of it. I would recommend it anyday for an everyday or a weekend car.

Mazda MX-5 Euphonic 2004

Great car and totally reliable. Only niggles have been fan belt that squeals in damp weather (I am on my fourth in 18 months) and now the rear sill is rusting through and will need about £400 of bodywork repairs per side. Saddens me Mazda didn’t protect this area better, they rust through from the inside so be careful with cars 2005 and older. Drive mine through deep puddles and the engine management gets wet and the electrics play up for several hours/days. Unusual alternator/voltage control arrangement and it’s £300 for an alternator! Would like to upgrade to a Mark 3 but need to pay for sill repairs first, which loses me £800 to £1000 straight away. If I get a mark 3 I will have it stripped out and get into the sills with a snake camera the first weekend!
