My Compass motorhome has completed 20K with no problems. I was going to replace it and buy a new Adria twin motorhome based on the new Fiat Ducato van. I had a test drive in the Adria, and was aware of potential gearbox issue. The salesman stated the gearbox problem had been sorted! When I tried to reverse up a not very steep hill there was a pronounced vibration from the gearbox. I have now decided to keep the old model Peugeot (2.0 diesel) 2003 . Thanks to other drivers reviews I have been warned!

During three years of motoring with a Boxer van, 45,000 original miles on the clock, the brake pipe coroded (under a rubber fixing clamp) resulting in huge loss of fluid and a near fatal disaster, the handbrake was always hopeless and when checked the cable had corroded and hadn’t been working properly for a couple of years by the look of it. The clutch cable broke away at the point it connects to the foot pedal and was mended by us with a "D" link put through a newly drilled hole (now a better connection than orginal pathetic connection). The anti-theft starter thingy on the ignition barrel packed up and had to be taken out so that the van would start, the judder in reverse gear is quite alarming, any sort of weight in the back slows the vehicle to a trot, the scrunching noises from the suspension makes you think your sailing in a 18th century man-o-war on the high seas in a force eight gale, the side door runners have worn, the side door stop has broken, the earth strap corroded due to water ingress dripping on the connecter to the gearbox, bad water ingress onto the battery, the flimsy back door has broken away from the hinges, the driver door hinges make such a noise each time the door opens that peaple within a hundred yard radius turn to check out the noise, premature rust has started on the body underside, the wheels rims dont seem to connect to the tyres correctly alowing slow loss of air and...Why go on, just keep away from them.

We bought the van at 6 months old and we found it to be the best all rounder for us. We move furniture and light goods our mileage is now 150000 and is still going strong no major breakdowns. Replaced clutch at 120000 miles no oil burning; services all done as required and parts replaced as needed. This is a van I would replace with the same without hesitation.
