I bought my Jazz 3 years ago and was impressed by the fact that it is so roomy for a small car. I like the fact that the bck seats drop down to make a flat base. I easily put a fridge in it and there was still more space. However, I have recently discovered that it has a leak in the boot and this causes water to sit in the spare tyre space and the water is also under the passenger rear seat foot space. I didn’t realise this was common ’til my friend had the same problem. I note another reviewer has the same thing. I can never achieve more than 44.4 mpg so not sure whether that is average. I am mostly a short distance around town driver. I would say on the whole the Jazz ticks all the right boxes, just a shame about the water problem.

Retired recently and needed economical runabout. Generally interested in cars & always do my research. Previously had company 2.2 diesel FN2 Civic,(own choice) so knew about Honda quality & engineering. Found a low mileage (43500) example at local dealer, with "proper" Honda 12 month warranty. Spare wheel well was full of water, but knew about common rear door seal problem.(that’s why I checked!) Replaced by dealer. Noticed "buzzy" gearbox, but thought nothing much about it. Noise became much worse-turned out to be bearings, but replaced under warranty. Since then (now 6months), have been nothing but impressed. Ideal "pensioner" car (sorry!). As stated before Grp 3 insurance, £120 raod tax and fantastic economy. Worst 38mpg, in winter, on very short trips with all electrics on, best 63mpg. Averaged 55mpg on holiday (I dont hang about), currently doing 50mpg. Surprisingly nippy for a 1.4 (even my son says so, and he drives a 2.3 litre V5 Golf!). Remarkably versatile luggage area- I recently helped someone to move house, and it’s amazing the stuff you can cram in. Fit and finish generally good. I agree about the ride, and can be noisy, but apparently depends upon the tyres you use. Steering can also be slightly "sticky". However, overall, would have no hesitation in recommending one, provided you check for the common faults first.

I bought a 2002 Jazz from autotrader 1 year ago. I’m very pleased with my purchase, even though EGR valve failed shortly after I bought it and I have had to replace a driver door lock which seized solid, both common faults in a second hand jazz I understand. These problems aside I do not contemplate too many more. It drives very well and is very well equipped. It has more than enough space for 4 adults and averages 48 miles to the gallon. I have to take into account that I paid only £2600 for a very good car, which should now prove a reliable runaround for my rather tall kids.
