2001 Fiat Marea reviews

Fiat Marea reviews by year of make:   1998  2000  2001  2002  Read all reviews

Available as both a saloon and an estate, the Fiat Marea is a family car produced by the Italian manufacturer that has many of the hallmarks of the popular Fiat Brava/Bravo range. Essentially, the Fiat Marea applied a different body type to the Bravo/Brava when launched in 1996 but replaced the Fiat Tempra. Most of its early production came directly from two Fiat plants in Italy and a larger version of the model was produced known as the Fiat Marea Weekend. Production of the Fiat Marea was effectively ceased in 2002 when the Marea Weekend was replaced by the Stilo MultiWagon though the Fiat Marea is still produced in some markets.

Fiat Marea 1.6 16V Weekend 2001

5 star review

Was looking for a replacement for our Jaguar XJ 4.0 and my wife’s Corsa; the replacement car had to be easy enough for my wife to drive and a little different to the norm. So far after 6 months of ownership I am very happy with the Marea, performance is much stronger than I was expecting from a 1.6, economy,i isn’t so great around town at about 30mpg. Plenty of space being an estate. I would certainly recommend one.

Fiat Marea 150 ELX 2.0 20 valve 2001

5 star review

Much underrated/overlooked family saloon, better looking/more fun to drive than most of this type - especially with the smooth 5 cylinder engine, with enough poke to put hot hatches in their place. Due to it’s power/weight, I was expecting low 20’s MPG when I bought it, but get between 27-35MPG and no failures in 20 months/16,000 miles so far. Insurance could be a killer if you’re under 25 and road tax could rocket in future years unless you choose version/year carefully, but a great, solid-feeling motor all the same. Makes paying £7K+ for a used A4/3 series seem daft, unless you really believe in all that ’better dashboard plastics’ b*llsh*te of the car mags.

Fiat Marea 1600 Saloon 2001

4 star review

Obtained car when just under 7000 miles on the clock, now 70,000. Had no problems, only cost new timing belt fitted at 50,000. Exhaust, just had new brake discs. Been very pleased with a reliable car. Had a Brava before, found that good but more pleased with the Marea. Also tow small caravan which it has no difficulty in towing.
