Mazda MX-5 1.8 1999

I swapped a very troubled MG TF for my Mazda MX-5 30 months ago. Inspite of it having 80000 miles instead of the MG’s 26000 it has never let me down unlike the poorly built MG. I have just traded her in with 120000 miles and she was still as tight as a drum and a credit to Mazda in terms of build quality. The only bad point would be the rust factor which is common on all the but the MK3’s I believe. The MX-5 goes round corners on rails and the steering is as direct and precise as any car I have ever driven. Friends have been known to take the micky, but as I point out I have owned some seriously cool performance cars in the last decade and the MX-5 is to my eyes the most fun even with the lack of power; I had a Supra Twin turbo MK4 with a moon roof and know one believes me when I say I prefer the drive of the Mazda more, power is not everything it would seem. I do now fancy a change and am now looking at the most recent MR2 instead as I do like a little mid engined balance. The Mazda did catch me out twice when driving to hard in the wet and I did end up facing the wrong way on a roundabout lol good old sporting lift off oversteer. I do miss the old girl but time for a change I think, but I will buy another in the future I am sure.
