I bought my Xtrail diesel when it was 3 years old with 47k on the clock. It now has 82k and until recently not much wrong with it so maybe I have been lucky. However, similar to many reviews of late the car has been losing acceleration in 4th gear and above, foot flat to the floor and not much more than 2500 revs. Then it kicks in or I change gear and it’s back to normal and fine on town roads. I have a very good garage near me who could see but not find the problem so sent me to a diesel specialist. Their diagnosis is the fuel injector valves - no surprise. However because it’s not gone to a dealer the guy is reparing the fuel pump for £675 including parts and VAT. It’s still a huge amount of money but not the cost of a new fuel pump, which the dealer would charge for. I am hoping that the car will now last another year or so and I can get some of my money back but having read all this I’d never buy another.
