Established as a financial market data provider and news service, Reuters has now become a source of information for the latest motoring news. Indeed Reuters has applied many of the same philosophies that have made it popular with investors to motoring via its website.
Paul Julius Reuter, a German who moved to the UK and attempted to lay a submarine telegraph from Dover to Calais, formed the company itself. Just before the opening of his office in 1851, he agreed a price with the London Stock Exchange to provide prices from the continental exchanges. Consequently, his firm was restructured and Reuters was formed.
Reuters is now one of the leading sources of motoring information and its website includes car briefs with all the latest information along with road tests on hundreds of vehicles.
In addition, Reuters is at the forefront of auto industry news making it a popular source for dealers, industry experts and consumers alike. There is also a section of the Reuters website devoted to motor sports from NASCAR to F1.
